Also, if you care about adverts, install an adblocker and an anti-tracking addon. I personally think targeted ads are a great idea; why would I want to see adverts about stuff I don't like?

By the way Tiberius...how are the talks over advertising on this site going??

Can give you a linky to a very successful site (yeah I know it is Motorcycle related but still).

Ads on the site is still up for discussion. I'm gonna look into how much various text link ads will give us. Google ads are another alternative, but I've had a bad experience with them in the past.

How can we have local businesses in a global community? :-P

Oh, and back on topic, you can control most of the data Google has on you from here: http://google.com/dashboard

I'm not worried about the google changes. I have a gmail account which I haven't used in years, and only use google to search for stuff online. I use an adblocker so I'm not worried about seeing ads whether it's something I'm interested in or not.

Somebody asked for proof.

This thread is based on information in the link below, plus a thread on another forum. If you don't agree, that's just dandy with me; I'm simply expressing my perception, not asking anyone to do as I have done.

Search History =/= Browsing History

In any case, this has been blown out of proportion. They are not doing anything that they haven't already been doing for years (this was all covered by their previous privacy policies). For further explanation, I have written a blog post:

THAT is your opinion, not mine. That they have been doing the same for years (if true) justifies nothing. It means only that I was ignorant of the fact.

Whether I have anything to hide is utterly irrelevant to me. I resent and will prevent any person or company from collecting personal data if I can unless they have my express permission.

No,it's not a huge deal, only a minor irritation which feeds my innate paranoia. I've spent more than enough time on the topic.
