So people who have no interaction with the opposite sex are smarter than ones who interact freely. Muslims are directed to avoid such interaction. Thus Muslims are smarter than those who are not so directed (and you singled out atheists as a typifying group). Based on this reasoning, I suppose monks and nuns are smarter still, since not only are they cloistered away in single-sex environments, any chance for even potential or accidental interaction is removed. Lots of things cause temporary cognitive impairment. We can take them into account and learn to cope, or hide from them. Judging from your posts, Islam causes worse cognitive impairment, and it seems to be long-term.

No. Healthy interactions with the opposite sex are worth a little transitory cognitive impairment. The logical conclusion of your argument is that men and women shouldn't get married and invite daily cognitive impairement. And that idea is definitely a sign of cognitive impairment.

Cognitively smarter as opposed to what other kind of smarter? No, the article doesn't prove that. Sadly, Muslims (and most other theists) have reduced one source of cognitive impairment at the expense of adding a number of others. Maybe I'm not at my best, cognitively, when I think a woman is evaluating what I do; but I'm sure the cognitive interference would be even worse if I think Allah is evaluating what I do. Think about it.

I think it's not what you think it is. The article as I understand it is talking mainly about the social pressures placed on people when they are in the presence of the opposite sex. We want to avoid making a bad impression with what our brains are hardwired to interpret as potential sex partners, whether such interpretations are contextually valid or not. If the research is accurate, it's the sort of thing commonly exemplified by adolescent boys getting tongue-tied in the presence of a pretty girl, or a beach romeo showing off to a gaggle of equally-pretty bikini-fillers.

The only connection between this social phenomenon and viewing pornography or being somehow tainted by mixing with the opposite sex is being made by you. There's certainly no connection to any religious affiliation. And if you think that having segregated areas on an internet forum is the solution, then all I can say is your prejudice is showing.
