God's Most Appalling Act
#11
RE: God's Most Appalling Act
I find the book of Job to be God's most appalling act. He told Satan to go ahead and kill Job's family just to prove a point about how much of a follower Job was.

Kratos Wrote:A father had the right to sacrifice his children to God if he wanted. This is a lot older than Abraham, pagans did this as well. I can't see any problem. This is what sacrifice is all about. I suppose it is not politically correct now. The state rules the family not the father. The state makes abortion ok instead.

So, if your father came to sacrifice you right now, would you allow him to because it's his right?

In the past women and children were the property of the father and husband. For example the bride is given away by her father to her husband in the marriage ceremoney. Women and childrens "rights" given by the state is a fairly modern radical concept, very left wing. The Romans called the law Patria potestas (power of a father), this is the old conservative way. Shafi Islam still abides by this method. The world has got very socialist over the years and the state has crept it's way into everyones private business. The average right wing conservative today would be considered a total socialist by Roman standards.
I am not a radical socislist so I don't think it is my business if a father wants to kill his children. It is rare and self defeating to kill your own offspring.

You didn't answer the question though. Would you protest if your father wanted to kill you? It may be rare, but it happens all too frequently.

(BTW, telling people they can't kill their children is not radical socialism.)

Of course, survival is my prime directive.
Telling people what they can and cannot do is being a commie as far as I'm concerned.

Guess you are here for a popularity contest. Check a couple medical books, a son - already born; alive and hopefully vibrant. Although in this case more likely to develop the psychosis if he takes after his father.

In said medical books, a fetus isn't a baby, and is not viable outside the womb even in 21 weeks. Viable look it up in a dictionary.

To add, there are so many 'most appalling acts'

The beating the infants against the rocks.....
Job is certainly bad but the all mighty blames 'the devil' for it.....
Rapes and a stoning (not in the good way)......(but only if seen)
The 'best of Leviticus'.......
The flood that never happened in Noah...Gilgamesh I know....
Sending out daughters to be raped.......

Just a few for thought.

"If one wishes to form a true estimate of the full grandeur of religion, one must keep in mind what it undertakes to do for men. It gives them information about the source and origin of the universe, it assures them of protection and final happiness amid the changing vicissitudes of life, and it guides their thoughts and motions by means of precepts which are backed by the whole force of its authority."

"Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from the fact that it falls in with our instinctual desires."

So, are you saying that telling someone that they can't murder someone else is wrong?

Guess he is too stupid to figure out that he just claimed the bible and by extension his god Jesus with his alter ego as a deadbeat daddy that raped his mother is a communist too. Considering that idiots like him equate communism with atheism, I find that really funny.

My question is why do Atheists care? If God does not exist for them, then why blame something that does not exist? Why do you think the sacrifice is for God if you don't believe in one and God does not make sense to you? Atheists seem to challenge their own logics here.

We only enjoy pointing out the inconsistencies in your god, fictional though he may be. All of the contradictions we poke fun at originate with the religious. It's funny how those with belief can either ignore these things or are truly blind to them.

We know he isn't real. You don't have to remind us.
