French and Greek elections

Wow, good to see the EU settling Greeces debt wasn't a gigantic waste of money and time... oh whats that? It was?
And the French government are jumping onto the same greedy little bandwagon?
What a shocker!

I'm making a prediction that the failiure of the majority to fully comprehend what we're up against will see us on our way to a post-apocalyptic future where the only living occupants are two bitter old men fighting over half a Mars bar.
Anyone else got any other cheery little predictions? :-)

Greece has pressed the self-destruction button a long time ago. It promised too much to it's citizens, and had to borrow equally much money to compensate for the things it didn't have to begin with. Really, how is going to Greece pay that debt? With more debt.

Don't get me wrong, I think its a shame. The only way the worlds economy can possibly survive is to write off nations who refuse to confront their economic crisis.
That isn't my personal opinion, its a fact.

How could they write off Greece, the cradle of European civilisation, the birthplace of democracy?
They have to keep it going.

I have no idea what's gonna happen, but I will definitely follow with interest as it unfolds.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

That was then. This is now. Legacies do not guarantee anything more than a place in the history books.
This is why loosely united governments do not make for a good financial and economic system; all it takes is one or two to fuck up to screw over the rest and when you have over 30 nations under your umbrella, the odds for failure are pretty damn high.
The EU was nice while it lasted.

Maybe they should have learned the lesson from the Articles of Confederation?
America is a rather good model for what not to do sometimes.

Oh, it certainly do.
The fact that the EU does not let into their domain is due to our moslem and non-european heritage.
They simply don't want a people not of their kin to be in there.
How did they allow Cyprus, a divided country, which has no boundaries into Europe, into their clique? Because it's Greek, and Christian.

Good that we didn't enter their union, then.

They have to keep it going.
Being the cradle or birthplace of something is a piss poor reason to keep it going IMO.

In your opinion, it is.
In my opinion, their fate is irrelevant, as I do not count Greece to be my cultural heritage.
For the europeans, Greece is the birthplace of their civilisation. They need to support it, as they're also a long standing member.
If not, what would be the purpose of the membership anyways?
