Senseless, people like that give humanity a bad name. I do not understand a mind that can rationalize such an action. Some jail time is in order.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity. Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist. You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.  
I'm not gonna lie, I teared up a little. I've got a fat kitty on my lap right now, wondering how anyone could do this, even at gunpoint.

Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.
God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems? 
This is truly shocking, I think it really says a lot about the perpetrators mental condition. Most serial killers have a recored of abusing, torturing and killing animals, it's probably a desire for power, controlling a defenceless creature, ending life. It also probably says a lot about the way their religious group functions on the inside, fear.
Whenever the true guilty party is found out, they should be buried in cement alive.
