For me personally it's not a matter of emotions, but just a matter of necessity. Couldn't care less if the man is nuts. What reason should we keep these sacks of refuse around? They are a drain on society, a drain on resources and the victims families get no closure. Not to mention the fact that they can never truly be trusted in regular society. I mean would anyone here want them living next door to them in their apartment building?? I think not.

I have absolutely no respect for lunacy. You're nuts? You're sane? ... I don't care ... you forfeit your life if you take somebody elses.

That's a bit harsh don't you think? He should be sent to mental health facility, to get the proper care and rehabilitation he needs. Then hopefully one day he can be released through a work program. Some kind of menial labor job, like a school janitor, you know something like that

Yes, I'd love for this man to spend his days in a school filled with young children. A rather lovely and brilliant idea.

Doesn't really matter - to society - what happens to this one nut.

What matters is the next one out there buying ammunition right now.

And a little more "freedom" disappears from "the land of the free" in the elusive search for "security."

Not sure which country he's in but in the UK, even committing a minor crime would be enough to prevent you from ever working in any place that has children. Don't think a mass murderer could ever be allowed to work in any place that'll involve interaction with anyone, especially the young. Let alone allowed to walk through public places.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

That was a picture from his college, you dumbshit.

The perpetrator seems maliciously intelligent and thorough. If this is a case of mental illness, I want to be sure of it. It does raise the question -- what do we do with the mentally ill?

And how the fuck did he get all those weapons, materials?

That must have cost a fortune.

What was a student doing with some much weaponry in the first place?

This reminds me of the Loughner guy.

I can't really say I agree with your assessment of what to do with him. We're better than that.

Yeah, I know. I had another emotionally-driven kneejerk reaction, removed it once I DID actually calm down.

This is why we have a judicial system and not a vigilante serve-the-victims based system; hot heads will not think rationally in such situations.

I appreciate you taking the time to consider that a kneejerk reaction is not always the best.

He should be detained for the rest of his life, insane or not. Insanity just decides what facility he ends up in.
