You're doing so well, no need to resort to the "No True Scotsman" there.

Bye,
My sacrifice is greater than yours and you ask if I'm really a Christian? Are you an altar boy or have you ever been one? I've been an altar boy since I was 5. I sang the Magnificat and the Nunc Dimittis EVERY evening at Evensong since I was 6 or so in a Cathedral that has a tradition of having the prayers sung every evening for the past 900 years even during the Interregnum when it was DEATH if you were caught singing them. I was only taken out of the choir a few months ago because they thought my voice would break soon.
Of course I'm a devout Christian. It's just that I want to be honest about the facts. What cannot be squared with the facts, I will readily admit.

Just another bible thumper who came here to "save souls" & not discuss. You'll get used to them eventually.

No, perfecting the art of apathy towards redundant arguments and poor apologists would probably serve you better.

The world doesn't make sense without "God"?
Scorpions, bedbugs, poisonous spiders, malaria-carrying mosquitos, poisonous snakes, tapeworms, hookworms, black flies that cause river blindness; microscopic beaties that cause polio, smallpox, plague, diptheria, AIDS, syphilis, rabies, tetanus, menengitis, hepatitis, etc...; cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, parkinson's disease, diabetes, cancer, conjoined twins, babies born deaf, blind, missing limbs and with all manner of horrifying birth defects; earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, floods, blizzards, tsunamis, thunderstorms, etc....
I would say that the world makes NO SENSE if there is a god. It is only if there is no god that the world makes perfect sense.
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.
God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

Bye,
Considered, Sacrificed, and never gonna be fooled like that again. I used to be just like you. Until I read the bible all the way through. I caught my first contradiction, my first 'No way I just read that!' and it lead to me realizing that anything that promotes the cruelty, hatred, and bigotry I could no longer follow with a good will. Yes, there are some decent points where real good was intended, but the rest show a much darker point and even try to claim them to be virtuous. No way, bro. It is a HUGE sacrifice.
I'm no one special and I treat everyone the best I possibly can, but to you believer, despite my acts, I am condemned to hell.

LOL, CBA, are you seriously flirting with a wager? Have you considered Islam? It doesn't take much and the reward is great.

I, like others, refuse to even attempt to steal Mins thunder on this count (honestly, I couldn't if I tried). I'm not even surprised that it would boil down to an argument from authority, because that's how it begins in the first place. First, establish the weight of whatever authority you wish to invoke...and then establish the veracity of the evidence that those authorities rely upon. It is easier to say "experts agree....", but it isn't convincing, and I'm much more interested in why experts agree.
Quote:Really? That's your argument? You knew what I meant. Honestly.
I"m not trying to argue anything with that statement, that's just my personal opinion of the relationship between churches and learning.

What wut? Stick around for awhile, perhaps you'll be surprised at how many christian gods are hanging around like floaters on these boards alone.

Go figure.
I am genuinely curious if you even bothered to read the Wiki article before you threw it out there as indisputable proof?
From the Wiki article you linked:
Quote:see less value in the letter, given its uncertain date, and the possible ambiguity in the reference.
see it as having little or no historical value.
there is no overall scholarly agreement about their impact on the historicity of Jesus
but its usefulness in determining the historicity of Jesus is uncertain.
they have little historical value, given that the wording of the original writings can not be examined.
not authentic and as a Christian composition designed to rebuff pagan sources.
What do you know, it seems these sources are disputable after all.
