I talked to an Iranian guy today and he said the value of their money has halved in the past 2 months, because of the very real possibility that Romney wins the elections.
If he wins.... well... Iran is right next to Iraq.... just continue what Bush started.
That is why a lot of countries are pulling their embassies out of that country. It's in turmoil and the outcome does not prove to be good..... If Romney wins!

I think it is much more credible to say the Iranian currency halved in value because western targeted sanctions created an extreme shortage of Dollars in the Iranian economy, consequently driving up the value of the dollar against the value of Iranian Rial.

Well... as the Rial has only lost a few percent against the dollar in the last couple of months on the international exchanges, it might be even more credible to suggest that the gentleman might have been exaggerating a teensy bit.

Yeah, I think I should withdraw my earlier comparison of Chuck Norris to Charlie Sheen. Sheen has at least been in some movies and television programming that weren't horrible.

Actually, since early 2012 Central Bank of Iran had imposed capital and exchange rate control on the Rial. So the official exchange rate of Rial is basically fixed. But the official exchange rate would be a joke because it is not derived from any market clearing. Instead central capital flow control means there would be multiple, widely different exchange rates for different locations and different purposes depending on the local supply and demand.
