I 'learned' to work with both. Don't get me wrong, I still distain these practices, but have learned to seperate the sin from the sinner.

What I'm curious about is this: She obviously got treatment for her addiction. What kind of treatment did you get for your denial and co-dependence?
No judgement intended. I'm the product of an addict and a co-dependant, which means I can exhibit the behaviors of both of an addict (I can lie with the best of them, but I choose to fight that impulse) and co-dependant (I can overlook/ignore some pretty serious shit).

If I was able to "overlook/ignore some pretty serious shit" then we would not be here now. (Happily Married, and clean/sober for the last 6 consectuive years.) I am a man of honor, intergerity, and principles. I live by these virtues, and demand that everyone around me to give a 100% effort live by same virtues. This is what forced accountablity and change in our shared plite. I have cut relationships out of my life because people/family did not respect healthy boundries. My wife would have been one of them if she was not truly repentant of this sin. Again reflecting the Love Christ has for the church, and not going beyond what I was/am called to do. I like God am not required to forgive if the person sinning, if the sinner does not seek forgiveness through repentance. Repentance meaning a true turning from sin. Not just saying your sorry, or even nessarily stop sinning, but a change of heart a complete 180 turn from this sin even if one is still physically addicted/dependant on said sin.

That said we did receive couples and indivisual consoluing while we went through this ordeal. No one is an island unto himself.

I am a fan of what is labeled as traditional marriage, but wish to oppose non-conventional marriages if they are done in the right way going through the correct legal channels for their legalization...aka not what the California Supreme Court did in 2008. I actually opposed that action not because I was against gay marriage (I was actually arguing with Christians in support of gay marriage even ignoring parts of the Bible that condemned it) but because I was selfish and did not want my marriage certificate to say Person A and Person B. I think gay marriage would have gone forward in my state had the politicians not been such morons about implementing it.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

So if most marriage vows/ceremonies include the words "til death do us part", do people who believe in the afterlife get to enjoy freedom from their current spouse after death?!! :p
Get to find a new woman up in heaven, I suppose??

I honestly look at marriage as a waste of money, but looking at these answers it seems it can work. Maybe, one day. :p

Women give up sex easily, so there is no reason to marry them. Besides, they get wrinkly and ugly when they get older. Younger girls will go for older guys, assuming said older guy is clean and fit. So as a male, you can be something like 45 and date girls in there 20's. Marriage would get in the way of that, and then later, you would have a woman who is just too old.

Man, do I love women's rights.

Considering the terrible marriage which my father was in when I was a teenager. Marriage is a concept I struggle to understand to be honest, not to mention understanding why same sex couples wanting to have their marriages recognized as such under the law (considering which in this country, their partnerships already are, so are "defacto" couples for that matter).
