Did I say it's yours? Do you really think that Ehrman discovered that we don't have any original manuscripts???? That's never been in question. So much for your much valued "facts".

Yes, actually, you did. You said "Your theory is nothing new."

So, you haven't looked at the evidence.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Daniel's POV:
- homosexual sex and relationships is a sin.

This one I got mostly from Drich, but I guess Daniel is ok with it too:
- definition of sin: Anything that goes against god's "explicit" desires/wishes for the human race.

pocaraca's explanation: "explicit" meaning written in the bible, mostly NT, but every now and then, you can pick and choose some very particular things of the OT. So homosexuality is not desired by this god thing, and it ultimately punishes people who indulge in this behavior.

Clearly, this concept of sin intertwines with the perception of the common people at the time of such behavior as bad and obviously counter-producent in biological terms.
It's a bit like sexual relations between siblings. The collective knowledge of the people has observed that these relations have a higher probability of yielding defective humans.
Homosexual relations yield no humans at all. An obvious no-no, when you want to occupy a lot of land.

You didn't answer the question you were asked.

We know it's a sin. That does not mean it is wrong, it only means that for completely arbitrary reasons, God doesn't like it.

But, since we all know some of the things God really does love (say hello to the rape-slaves, Daniel), we can draw the obvious conclusion that sin ≠ wrong, and certainly vice versa.

I think Daniel might be trying to say (or perhaps avoid saying) that gay marriage is wrong because gay is wrong. An imperfection has slipped into creation. Men love men, women love women and God does not approve. It must be tough being a dutiful child of an irrational God.

If you don't believe in a God, I don't think it matters whether homosexuals are discriminated against or not.

I see no reason to wage a war on anyone's behalf. Let them take care of themselves.

Well. One can argue that since this "homosexuality" is a sin to xtians then xtians are right in not practising it.... glich comes when more and more xtians are finding that they ARE homosexual.

So Daniel, just as well YOU are NOT homosexual...you aren't are you? Undecided

Could someone PLEASE explain to me why the abrahamic religions are so obsessed with peoples' sex lives??

Sure sounds like this believing in God stuff is pretty important for a lot of the things we all hold near and dear. Maybe we should reconsider this faith stuff, huh Vinny?

If I was more of a cynic, I'd probably suggest that they were set up by sad little men desperate for some feeling of influence and importance in their society, jealous of other peoples' sex lives because they themselves couldn't get any. If I was more of a cynic.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Thinking

That could go a long way to explain the paedophilia issue within the very same religions.
