Your Views on Dawkins?

RE: Your Views on Dawkins?
Hey I'm back. Took a nice nine hour sleep and logged on to see that this has hit six pages! Wow.

Anyway, I don't think that I am going to continue my argument considering it was a tangent to begin with. I was just interested in what you all thought of Dawkins.

Maybe if I start another thread, I can make it a little bit more clearer. Some might say that I am conceding defeat. In a way, yes. You win. Big Grin
Yes, I am a Christian on these forums. I am not here to judge or condemn, rather, I am here to debate, learn, and incite discussion. Yes, I think that my avatar is hilarious.

They hold up scientifically...which beats your absurd bible all to shit.

What on this rock makes YOU think YOU are the grammar/ spelling nazi Daniel??

Thinking hmm?

Your english isn't that great either mate. Tongue

Actualy I like being told when I make mistakes and encourage people to point them out to me. Annik regulary does this and I am very greatfull for it.

But in this case it seems like he realy just wants to wave his "swag" arround. So Daniel.........

Also geh schiebe dir deine Korrektion doch in den Arsch und fick dich selbst!

Oh FFS. I didn't use that term, the OP did. If you ask me the two terms are synonymous, which you obviously agree with.

I'm not waiving anything around. I appreciate that it is difficult for you to know if you've spelled something incorrect if it is in fact a different word you've typed, but the instances I highlighted would all be picked up by a regular spell check. You either do it or you don't, there's no need to claim I'm waving my swag about.

Reading The God Delusion tipped me over the edge from agnostic to atheist. I respect the guy a lot.

Huh. I'm an agnostic and an atheist. I think most people here are.

I concur.

As for what I think about Dawkins, I feel like he's pretty cool (having seen him at Oxford debate a couple of times and read almost all his books), but I reject adamantly any notion that we as atheists "worship him" (which has been an idea that's flourished in various theist circles).

He's just a guy. A brilliant scientist and an advocate for being skeptical of superstition, but just a guy none the less.

(emphasis mine)

If you can convince me that this is intentional irony, I'll give it the kudos it deserves. Call it an award for subtlety.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I met Richard Dawkins at a fundraiser for Japan after that massive Earthquake. I think it was called "Non-believers Giving Aid". It was pretty rad. I got to drink beers (I got drunk), play pool with David Silverman, and talk to Richard Dawkins. I didn't like the people there though. All snobby pursed face straight edges who had major sticks up their asses around Dawkins.
