He/she said the equivalent of. I've come across one or two like that. I felt that the only reason they didn't condemn believers to hell was because there's no concrete scientific proof that hell exists. Big Grin They regarded me as a heretical atheist because I dare to use Jungian psychology - if we'd been living in medieval times they'd have burned me at the stake.

Quote:1. Is there an organized group of atheists that has a global presence?
Wouldn't know, not part of any group.

Quote:2. For what reason do you go about and try to disprove the beliefs of the theists?
I don't. No real point trying to disprove something that's never been proven to begin with. It's down to the theist to prove their claims, I don't have to prove or disprove anything. I simply reject what they've claimed.

Quote:3. Isn't the belief/knowledge that there is without a doubt no God/gods also faith based? ( I don't just mean the Christian God, but the existence of higher beings in general, and please don't bring up the stupid flying spaghetti monster argument).
Faith is belief without evidence. Claiming to know there is no god is a knowledge based claim. I do not claim to know there is no god, I have simply rejected the claim that there is one.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

I suppose there are a few, what with the interwebs and all, not really my bag though

2. For what reason do you go about and try to disprove the beliefs of the theists?

I don't. Here I am at AF.org, you won't find me at Jesusisawesome.org

3. Isn't the belief/knowledge that there is without a doubt no God/gods also faith based? ( I don't just mean the Christian God, but the existence of higher beings in general, and please don't bring up the stupid flying spaghetti monster argument).

If by "belief" you mean "a lack thereof" and if by "faith based" you mean "based in a lack thereof" then sure. What makes the FSM less credible than any other god?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
