God is the great spirit friend
RE: God is the great spirit friend
What a great spirit friend, then, if he doesn't think my suffering is big deal.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

missluckie, it is not like he doesn't think it is a big deal, but in the scheme of things, it goes away. 30 years from now, you aren't going to care about the pain that you felt too much. When I was growing up, I had some bad things happen to me. Honestly, those things are so far in the past that I have just forgotten about them.

This is the way that God sees suffering. God is very compassionate and cares about people but God also realizes that just like little children complain loudly about small things when they are going through them, older people complain about things because they lack perspective to realize they will end soon.

God just sees people suffering, like a father who sees his child complaining and crying because they stuck their finger in the socket, and cares they are hurting. The child thinks they are going to die. The father looks and says "well, they are going to have to goto the ER, that is a shame, probably will have a scar for the rest of their life". This is the way God is, God does not minimize peoples suffering, in the Bible, Jesus is described as weeping. At the same time, God does not perceive suffering like a fearful, complaining, immature person. God has a great deal more perspective than we do.

The thing that has helped me the most through difficult times is just knowing that I can hold on to God when I go to sleep and God holds me and comforts me. Sometimes it seems like the rest of the world is so foolish and so shallow, but God is always a close friend to me, has never been far away from me, though God has put me through quite a bit.

So hard I thought I was going to die...I've been there too bro, just work it out.

Funny as hell, as long as this was a cleverly disguised masturbation joke.

Oh, wait! You're Christian. Sorry, spilling seed is a hobby of mine.

This is not a debate. I'm not trying to sway you to my side. I'm trying to clarify what you meant, because it was a bunch of garbledy-gook to apparently more than just me.

That's really all you had to say. That's why we differ. I don't believe there is a higher sentient power of any sort driving the universe and creating instances for us to prove ourselves. Shit happens. We get over it or we don't. Nothing is making "praise worthy" situations for us. That's my opinion. You've a right to your own. I just wanted to make sure that I was understanding that you had a weirdly Evil Disney view of the world.

Why is it weird? What is evil about it? What does it have to do with Disney?

It's highly idealistic (in my opinion).

It makes something noble out of very ignoble suffering (evil being justified to exist to further people's opinion of themselves is evil, in my opinion).

It has a higher power driving it (that's weird, in my opinion).

Have you ever seen Disney movies? They're extremely idealistic.

Heh. Well on the problem of evil, I would say on Christianforums, it gives (strong) Atheists a moral side of rejecting God. So I respect people who say God cannot exist on the basis of the problem of evil. I even have my doubts about it myself, and sometimes it seems the world is too cruel for a just or benevolent creator.

Alright, well it was nice talking to you SummerQueen. Smile

Okay… this is just messed up. I'm a mom and I've had to take one of my children to the ER to get stitches. I had to hold him down so the doctor could inject him with lidocaine. He struggled because it hurt, and I held him and reassured him it was going to be okay. I did this because I knew the wound required stitches to heal properly.
This scenario in no way resembles the pain and suffering of being sexually abused as a child. Yes, the abuse itself is over, and though I may not have physical scars, there sure as hell are emotional and psychological ones. Abuse survivors are just "complaining loudly about small things"? You are so full of shit, it's oozing out into your posts.

This is why I try to gloss over his posts, festive. Not hard, since most of them are "tl;dr" anyway.
