This is your final warning. When I told you two to cool it with the racism / terrorism accusations, I did not mean "go to another thread and continue it". Do it again and you'll get more than a simple verbal warning.

Good thing for me=> I don't give a damn about your views. And clearly at least my local MP gives a damn, she voted against it Smile that's all that matters to me. Not some nobody from the internet.

I'd personally say it's immoral to deny all equal rights in society.

How about no one gets government sponsored marriage, and everyone is happy. You can go to whatever group you want for your "purely ceremonial" marriage, and those groups have the freedom to turn down whoever for whatever moral, religious, etc views they have. Gays get equal marriage rights, and anti gay marriage proponents don't have to live with government sponsored gay marriage.

Marriage is a legal contract between two parties ( time to lose all this "love" horseshit for a while ) with significant implications for property and custodial rights of any children for which the parties will seek redress in the courts.

It needs to be treated as a contract.

And anyone should be able to sign a contract as long as they are of age and competent mental status without worrying so much about what goes in what hole because of the bullshit written in some silly old books.

Well, that's fine and all, but ideologue08 thinks it's all yucky when love happens between people of whom he doesn't approve, and his opinion is more important than anyone who disputes it because he said so.

Unfortunately for mo (whateverhethinks he is now) Min is correct.

Marriage is a legal contract (emphasis on legal) religion has no real legal binding. Funny about that. You can get married in a church/ mosque/ synagogue/ temple BUT IF you haven't lodged that marriage with the legal system of the country you are not married.

In the United States you have to apply for a marriage license.
