Really? I thought he was a deist. No? Diest stemming from the word Deus, derived from the Latin word for god. I'm new to the whole categorization scene but I'm pretty sure if he believes in a god he's more on your end of the stick than mine.
Where pray tell, on this site, do you propose he go to avoid such nonsense?
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

I didn't miss it, no. Thanks though.

It means they believe, but don't claim to know.

It would be pretty difficult to invoke or worship or pray to a God that you are not even sure is there. One must must be sure in the existence of such a God as a bare minimum, otherwise there is no difference between them or atheists regarding the matter (from my perspective anyway).

Well, people can believe in a god or they don't. Unless you propose there's some magical grey area in-between. His title suggests he does believe in a god, and until he says straight up he's an atheist, he aint an atheist to me (because I cant magically judge the thoughts and intentions of his beliefs within). Point is, I've considered him on the god side (albeit not yOur god in particular), this whole time. Hence making your assertion that I'm defending an atheist for atheists sake,
moot.

He dissed your capacity to comprehend the distinction, which seems pretty justifiable right now.
A deist is just like an atheist except they believe in a God that created the universe.

I can't agree to any of that...I don't even agree that someone can truthfully claim to know their God exists (from my perspective)...but I believe in your sincerity. Sometimes different perspectives can't be resolved.

I'd much rather live life humbly not knowing the answer, than in faith of my own surety of a god I truly can't find proof for.

Sometimes different perspectives can't be resolved. lol this isn't about agreement. I'm not asking others to agree with me, I'm just stating how things sit with me, which is not really up for debate. Just like your opinions are exactly that, your opinions, no-one can take them away from you even if they disagreed.
