How was the sun created on the fourth day?

RE: How was the sun created on the fourth day?
When I attended Church, my priest claimed the "light" created on the first day was the light of God.

That's cool and all, but yeah. No days.

Hell, even the Bible verse says on the fourth day...days were created. There was no time that could be measured into days until the creation of the Sun.
Maybe god measured and then told them how many days had passed?

It's not a very hard question to answer without contradicting or saying "you misinterpret" or "it's a metaphor not literal." There's a lot more questions to be asked about the bible that cannot be answered without bullshitting. Why choose one that can be answered honestly by a christian?

Or maybe it's fucking bullshit.

Why are we debating this nonsence anyway?!?!?!

We know the sun was not created through god! We know the earth wasnt!

We know that the sun is compressed gas, which was formed through it being pulled together by it`s gravity.

We know the planets were formed through pieces of material in space which were drawn into the sun`s orbit through gravity and through collition and being drawn towards each other formed the planets (a process which hasnt even stoped)

Is this simply a case where someone tried to ask a theist a embaressing question and only atheists reply?

I suspect it will be something to the effect of "god days", not real days. But don't ask them how long "god days" are. They still fight amongst themselves about that one.

We could bring MS or some other muslim into this as well....
I've seen a thread where they claim only "periods" of time... undefined periods... compatible with that god-day notion! Wink

I had read the Bible for decades and never thought of this, to be perfectly frank.

Actually - this is one of the OBVIOUS errors in the bible

THe first page of the story of creation alone contains LOTS of things that are simply not consistent with reality.

Obviously - the SUN had to exist first for the development of the earth to happen.

Example - Day and Night are not Light and Darkness - they are actually based on a relationship between the Earth orbiting the sun - and the earth spinning on its axis - and how long it takes to complete ONE revolution of that spinning. . AN all knowing god that created the Solar system - which is NOT mentioned in genesis at all - would have known that. It can be quite dark during the day in some places on earth - and in others - at times - it is dark the whole day - and other times it is LIGHT the whole day as well.

WE also know that the sun generated light - but the moon does not - so IT is not a great light. THere is NO layer of water above the SKY. Humans cannot eat all seed bearing plants safely. And many more - -

Obviously - whoever wrote the bible wrote about the Myths and beliefs of the time - rather than reality.

You also missed light being created on day 1, before the sun and stars.

And plants being created on day 3, the day before the sun. Photosynthesis? We don't need no stinking photosynthesis.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Light and darkness is what denoted the passage of time. ever since the 4th day the sun is the source God uses to produce light.

So all plants would die in one day without light.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
