What is "FAITH"

There are some things we don't have an answer for, and perhaps we never will. That does not mean that we should fill the gap of knowledge with "goddidit". Sometimes, I think it's just okay to say, "We don't know, but we're working on finding out."

The universe had an origin of a sort, but regardless your question is malformed. For starters, you need to define what you mean by 'universe'.

Clearly you cannot be defining it as the totality of existence, because then your question answers itself: it always has existed in some form.

The universe has always existed. Why can't it continue to exist, then? Why will it cease to exist?

He didn't say the universe always existed. It had its origins in the big bang.

There are different theories as to why it will cease to exist.

Is that what I'm doing? I am proving my assertion, one that has existed for 2000 years and is logically true. If I can provide a logical answer to the origin of the universe, then why should you reject it?

The universe came to be at a definite point in time, correct? It began one day and will end another?

When you find an answer that is not only logically sound but valid, do let us know.

Filling the gap with god does not count.

What? No one here has said the universe will cease to exist. If you're referring to the 'fate' of the universe (i.e Heat death, etc.), the universe still exists, just in a different form.

It's hard to say, because time didn't exist before the big bang, which is the origin of the universe. So, it is difficult to say "when" the universe came about as we understand it.

The universe as we see it will most likely end, however, whether or not that means the end of all of existence is unknown, as far as I am aware.

The universe is caused, meaning that it had a cause.
Before the origins of the universe were rationally questioned, the Jews claimed that an immaterial, omnipotent, immutable being that was not hindered by time or space had brought the universe into being.

Step by step. Like a mystery detective.
Time, the expansion of the universe, was made possible by whatever caused the universe. The cause of the universe cannot be limited by time.
The cause of the universe also made space to exist. The cause of our universe cannot be limited by space.
How am I doing?
