I didn't want to write the following with shadowWolf around but as it seems he's gone I just wanted to show atheist brainwashing for children in one atheist house.

I am Jewish by birth and atheist by nature. My wife is Greek Orthodox by birth and a bit of a believer (there's something out there kind of thing).

When my daughter was borne we both knew that she could not be Jewish (goes through the mother) and we both agreed she should be Greek Orthodox (90% of the population are over here).

So she had a full on baptism and was then taken regularly to Church by the woman who looked after her till she was 8.

My daughter is now 11. It was only in the last few months that she started to ask me about my beliefs. I explained what Judaism was and how Jews don't follow Jesus and she was rather shocked. I left it there till she came back to me again and then further explained that I was actually atheist.

Strangely this was less of a shock for her and she came back at me with: "So God is just Santa for adults."

As of now she says she is an atheist too. That may or may not change over her life. We've had a few further discussions since then and she holds a typical child's simplistic views on things (in justification for her atheism). Those won't stand the test of time. They will either be replaced by a better handle on things or by belief in whatever she chooses.

I guess I am not very good at brainwashing.

BTW - There is a bible permanently placed on my desk. She has asked why many times. There's no religious iconography in the house but there is in our holiday home (gifts).

You're not very good at brainwashing, your daughter just happens to think what her daddy does since he told her what he thinks. hmm Wink

Jeez, you guys don't leave much meat for the late arrivals, do you? And now it looks like dinner's off. Actually it looks more like this dinner showed up off.

Ah well, let's have a taste. Might be enough for a sandwich.

I daresay it does. Might I suggest you refrain from doing those things if they bother you so much?

*burp*

Now for dessert:

Fuck Viagra; Cialis is what you want. That shit rocks! Best to get it on prescription though, like me. Now all I need is someone to help me actually make use of the stuff and I'm laughing.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Brilliant, Stimbo.

It reminds me of a former friend of mine who once asked, "Why does this always happen to me?"

Not treating it as a rhetorical question like I retrospectively think he intended it to be, I replied, "When you have to ask that question, 9 times out of 10 the answer is, 'because you make it happen'."

So this new guy says essentially, "Whenever I go into an atheist forum, I always get laughed at and insulted." I wonder why that always happens to him? Rhetorical question. Wink

It's just as well. I couldn't eat another bite so I hope I don't have to miss any feeding frenzies today.

Stimbo had a good idea. I wonder what people think are the three funniest -for all the right reasons- exchanges of this voracious tumor of a thread.

He put me in mind of the following bit of dialogue from an early M*A*S*H episode, something like:

Major Burns: Why is it, whenever I walk into a room it's disgusting?

Radar: You said it, sir.

Or the old Jasper Carrott bit about his mother-in-law's driving: how she's never had an accident in her life; she's seen hundreds, though, in her mirror.

His approach was akin to me walking into a Black Panther meeting and saying, "Hi, I'm here to have a rational, peaceful conversation about the complicated issues of race relations with you fine niggers."
