Are Ray and Kirk Perfect?

Human beings also have a dangerous tendency to choke on food: this has something to do with the fact that, in the back of our throats, the passage that air follows to get to the lungs actually crosses the path that food follows to get to the stomach. This would be an example of a really stupid (or perversely sadistic) design if a god had actually designed it that way.

The book goes on to say the reason our windpipes and throats are set up the way they are is because our distant ancestors were sea creatures who eventually reproduced and grew to live on land. This feature, like everything in human anatomy, comes from the evolution of our bodies.

You should really be careful about posting things you know nothing about and posting things from people you think know what they are talking about.

First of all less than 3000 people die every year from chocking in the U.S. every year that includes children. Children are more likely to choke on things that were not around a couple hundred years ago, balloons, small toy parts, gel and gummy candies are some of the major contributors of child deaths. The percentage of people chocking to death each year is 0.00001. Over 400,000 people die every year in the U.S. from smoking related illness. Now speaking of smoking, wouldn't one look stupid with a cigarette hanging out of a nostril, one couldn't leave it there long the smoke would burn one's eyes and only people with big noses could smoke cigars.
Now to some important things, one could not cough to clear the lungs the sinuses would not allow this, they would become stopped up and flood the air passage and one would suffocate. One could nor have mouth to mouth to help some one breath or aid in clearing water from the lungs.
You would not be able to taste much at all, most taste comes from that passage way from the throat to the sinuses, one could die of eating bad and spoiled foods. If you think I'm lying get two glasses fill one with water and the other with orange juice, close your eyes and have a friend hand you a glass pinch off your nose and drink, then drink the other glass the same way, no breath in between, then guess which was the orange juice before you breath. Without the passage between the throat and air passage one could not use a benny pot to clean the sinuses. I'm sure that's not the correct spelling.
You could not talk, nor yawn, no whistling either. Next time research or even think for a moment might help.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I don't even know where to start on this. All I can say is i don't think you understand what he was getting at. He wasn't saying we would be better without a windpipe or whatever. He was saying it is not intelligently designed because we choke a lot. If we were intelligently designed, we would use different holes for breathing and eating, this would prevent people choking. I suggest next time you type something, YOU should think for a moment, that might help.

The thought process was just fine, it's your's like his that's flawed, without that little nasal passage the negatives I pointed out would be true, why, because there would be two different passages and we could not survive. Oh yeah, if you keep your mouth closed you do breath and eat with two different holes.
I know why you do not know where to start, because you have no argument against what was said.

This will become insanely ironic by the end of my post.

Quote:First of all less than 3000 people die every year from chocking in the U.S. every year that includes children.

And this number... what? Nullifies the fact that our dual windpipe/food tube causes us to choke? Is that seriously a thing you're saying? That's like saying that drunk driving is okay because less people get killed by it than you think is unacceptable.

Quote: Children are more likely to choke on things that were not around a couple hundred years ago, balloons, small toy parts, gel and gummy candies are some of the major contributors of child deaths.

Once again, how does this make the dual design intelligently designed? How does "it happens more today than it did in the past" help your case? Especially when the god you're claiming designed it could see into the future and know that it would present more of a choking hazard in future.

Quote: The percentage of people chocking to death each year is 0.00001. Over 400,000 people die every year in the U.S. from smoking related illness. Now speaking of smoking, wouldn't one look stupid with a cigarette hanging out of a nostril, one couldn't leave it there long the smoke would burn one's eyes and only people with big noses could smoke cigars.

So what?

Quote:Now to some important things, one could not cough to clear the lungs the sinuses would not allow this, they would become stopped up and flood the air passage and one would suffocate. One could nor have mouth to mouth to help some one breath or aid in clearing water from the lungs.

Yeah, you could. Just have two tubes, only one of which can be operated at any one time. Or, hell, why not just not have our breathing apparatus in our heads? You're taking this like you absolutely have to preserve the body shape we already have, but that's not true from the perspective of a creator god, were one to actually exist: we could just as easily absorb oxygen through our elbows, or the tops of our heads, or gills set into the sides, right near the lungs. Certainly obviates your objections to coughing, that.

Quote:You would not be able to taste much at all, most taste comes from that passage way from the throat to the sinuses, one could die of eating bad and spoiled foods.

So why not have one food passage and a breathing setup elsewhere? Why not set up a more effective suite of tastebuds?

Your argument here is really stupid: you're essentially arguing that if one took away the windpipe setup we'd be worse off, when the thing you're responding to isn't saying anything about the current design, beyond that it's really inefficient and dangerous. Remember, your god, the one you think created us all, isn't bound by the form we already have; he could have created us any way he liked.

Unless you're stuck on that "created in his own image" schtick, and you're telling us that god is possessed of a body that's equally stupid and dangerous? Thinking

Quote:You could not talk, nor yawn, no whistling either. Next time research or even think for a moment might help.

Remember what I said about irony? Yeah. Big Grin

The trouble here is that you didn't bother to actually comprehend the quote, in your rush to argue back. You zeroed in on the subject, without taking a second or two to absorb the intent or the actual point.

@ Exlax, you are the most unreasonable, irresponsible person I've ever seen. Your reasoning is so childish it's not worth responding to. When and if you grow up I might consider responding again, until then... bye.

But more on topic, I actually heard that mammalian ears are vestigial gills, which further proves that we descended from sea creatures millions of years ago.

Wow, you really can't handle your own idiocy being torn down huh? Sounds a lot like a child's reaction.

Kiddo nothing was torn down unless you consider childish logic credible, if you do then it shows how little your opinion is.
