Seems like I've seen that photo of the guy eating the baby before in reference to an urban legend which was possibly shown to be false.

It depends. Did the baby die of natural causes or was it killed?

Some of them at least are probably fetus aborted to comply with China's one-child policy, in force since late 1970s.

Abortion carries no stigma in Chinese society. They've known for 300 years the consequences of overpopulation. There is also no cultural tradition to regard a fetus that can't possibly live out of the womb as a person, or that the parents retain any sort of right over an aborted fetus.

There are people in Africa who eat babies/other people/human hearts because they think it makes them stronger in battle and what-not. Yum.

In Nigerea, it`s part of some tribe religion and not a wide spread practice. I may also add that it is illegal.

Yes, there seems to be only three levels of judicial punishment in China:

10 years, life, and death.


Just kidding, your sentence for spitting can be reduced to 5 years if you behave.

China is also the only country I know where one could be executed for killing some types of endangered animals or plants.

This was shared by someone on Facebook. Before clicking the link, I need to stress that the images are less-than-pleasant (to put it mildly). I recently told someone that I was un-shockable... which proved to be true when reading this article. Humans are pretty much capable of anything.

And it has to be said... the whole in-joke about atheists eating babies... much less amusing, now.

I really don't know if they eat that, but they eat a whole range of what we call inedible stuff. I asked a friend of mine, who is of the moslem minority in China, why the Chinese eat such stuff, whether it was due to the unavailability of normal food, he replied "they just like to try everything."
