Believing in creation (that God is the creator) and being a creationist (believing that God created the universe taking the metaphors literally rather than as intended) are two different things.

I think though that Nora meant it in the YEC kind of way, not 'I'm a believer, so yes, I think God started the universe for his reasons alone' Wink
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Why do I get the feeling that the only place in the Universe that veegtrons are going to exist is as a perpetually running joke right here in this forum?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Re: the OP, who does appear to have vanished anyway.

My theory as to the beginning of the Universe is as follows. Some thirteen to fourteen 'billion' years ago, the Universe began.

Any use to you?

Thank you for attending bible ed Great
Thanks, but I was the top of my year in RE at my Catholic School for 5 years. Big Grin

I figured, based on the context of the thing, that the OP was referring to the literal Genesis kind of belief in creation that even you would define as a wee bit mental.

You were pulling up John v and not the op with your correction Nora. John v's statement was perfectly correct.

A young earth creationist goes one step further than the creationist in asserting that the universe is only 6000 years old. Both take the bible "literally" (but not the text literally/ as it was originally intended). All Christians (I've ever heard of anyway) believe that God is the creator.

How does just believing in goddidit contradict the Big Bang theory at all? It doesn't. The OP implied it did, so therefore is very unlikely to be referring to anything other than YEC.

Sorry - I didn't realise you were quoting the OP, and I thought you were quoting JohnV - phone browing has been slow tonight.

OK I get what you're saying. Apologies. Yes I agree with you that the BigBang doesn't rule out God having any part of it. I think it's entirely consistent. So let's throw rocks at this guy... (no srsly Big Grin)
