Sounds like someone lacks a bit of imagination!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

A more apt analogy is whether a psychopathic torturer loves his children he has in the basement dungeon screaming from excruciating pain, enduring punishment for not obeying him. They were also not taught how to behave by their father to avoid this unforgiving punishment, but had to try to pick up the rules from other kids. Does he really feel disappointment?
There won't be anyone in Hell that doesn't want to be there! So, you can feel good again about God!
On what basis do you make this wild claim? No one would want to be in hell, so it would be empty. All of that flies in the face of all the christian doctrines I've heard of, and I'm a PK, so I've heard of a lot of them.

The big lie would be to say there was no God, or His promise. Unless you have proof to the contrary for the child?

No proof for god's existence is all the proof needed that he is imaginary.

Actually the good percentage of Christians...are, well STILL Christians!

Ok... and when you were dead...you didn't look around just to see if maybe he was around, before the trip back?

If a child asks me, I'll say there are a lot of gods that people believe in. But none of them have any proof, and I don't believe in one.
That is a lot more honest than saying heaven is like disneyland.
You still haven't answered my question.
If a father says to his children, live with me forever or burn in a pit. Is he abusive or is he Christlike?

I never had a near death experience.

We have the choice. Do you want eternal life? Yes or No?

No. Abusive is wrong. God is Good!
But, he won't take abuse from us either! Just like I wouldn't take abuse from my children. If I couldn't help them with love and understanding, I would put them out of my house, and life if necessary.

Anyway, I don't want to live with god forever because i don't think I want to live forever, let alone with the same person for all eternity. Also he's not real, so, you know. Well, as i said... wouldn't you want to see what it is He has to offer? I mean, it's free too! Free is Good?
Is it so bad to say: "I don't know?" Rather than; "There is no God"?
Does it hurt so bad to open your mind to that possibility?
All we need do is ask Him in all sincerity! The answers come.

We have the choice. Do you want eternal life? Yes or No? I thought I quite clearly said no. But there's no choice right? Hell or heaven, both eternal, so why do you ask?

If I couldn't help them with love and understanding, I would put them out of my house, and life if necessary. So is this dad good or abusive? You think he's good now? So if a dad can abuse his child if his child refuses to say "I love you" or wants to move out when he's 18? And he'll be as good as God and not considered abusive. I'll agree he's as good as god. He's also abusive.
Abuse from us? Do you know what abuse means? Withholding love isn't abuse. Torturing someone is abuse.

Well, as i said... wouldn't you want to see what it is He has to offer? I mean, it's free too! Free is Good? It's not free. It requires that I pay 10% of my earnings, and every Sunday of my life not working but going to church. It requires that I lie to myself constantly and abstain from "sins" such as sex before marriage and divorces (depending on what branch of Christianity you believe in), and also not have any abortions. It also requires that I swallow my disgust and worship a god that will send many of my friends to hell. I can go on, but I think you get the idea.

Is it so bad to say there is no god? That's not what I say anyway, I say I believe there is no god. Anyway, burden of proof and all that.
Quote:Does it hurt so bad to open your mind to that possibility?
Actually yes it does. My buddhist greatgrandmother died when I was a Christian. It really hurt a lot, for many many nights I couldn't sleep thinking she was burning in hell. After that incident I stopped taking hell seriously. I wished that had been enough to make me an atheist, but I got there eventually so.

I don't know what you mean. I don't have any questions for god.

Yes, but I prefer to reside in reality where I understand and accept that eternity is merely a fairy tale concocted by those who cannot abide by dying and ceasing to exist. Eternal life in heaven and vampires have something in common, the unwillingness to accept the inevitable.

The difference is that I do not see you throwing your children in a fiery pit when they misbehave. If you did that, you would be considered as evil as your god.
