Soooooo, did you know that the 25 December is not the actual birth date of the fictional Jesus?

Only since I was about 12.

Lol! Seems like I'm one of the few ones then that was left in the dark! I only discovered all of this recently while doing some research...While I was a Christian I believed everything that the Bible told me. It was wrong to question God or the Bible so I blindly followed the rest of the sheep. Only thing is that I've always smelled one big f@cking rat. That's when I started asking questions and discovering just how blind and naive I've been!

Then I've discovered this website called Atheist Forums. Brilliant website but just a shame about the members (just kidding of course!!)

Who cares if its the actual date or not? I do think jesus existed, but that is to the extent I believe of him, he was just a regular guy. As for the other claims unto him, there is no way to tell what is made up and what actually happened. As for the 25th, it doesent matter that much, it could be any day and it would be just the same, and anymore, the buisnesses have stolen its theological meaning and replaced it with greed. A good way to make lots of money.

The xtian assertion about their god boy amounts to little more than special pleading. They would be the first to declare that all the above are mere myths BUT NOT OUR BOY!!! FUCK NO.. HE WAS REAL!

Xtianity is the ultimate expression of special pleading.

Now, you forget Jesus was a prophet who was god-ified 200 years after he died. If anything he would be grouped with other prophets, like Mohammed, Aberham, etc...

I never said what he did was real, I think that is made up bullshit, but I do think he was a person who existed, perhaps even the part about him being wise or telling stories that stated the obvious but did so in a way that sounded smart was not true. Perhaps he was a fat old drunkard who did not get executed by the Romans in his 30's. Mabey he invented the surfboard so people thought he walked on water. I don't know.

The point is that the insistence that there is a 'man behind the myth' is a load of xtian crap. Mankind has had no trouble inventing thousands of gods and their boy is no different from any of the other frauds.

Yes, and I think it is more likely that somebody exadurated some guy, and that got exadurated over and over, than somebody completely invented Jesus.

I am of the opinion that there probably was a real Jesus person who was a charismatic leader. Similar in fact to David Koresh or Charles Manson. He exerted many of the same influences and shared goals. They both even modeled their brands of evil control on the JC man.

Its amazing the effect one charismatic figure can have on the world, would Nazi germany have become a fact if it wasn't for Hitler, or would Russia have become communist if it wasn't for Lennin, would Macedonians have conquered Persia and the Hindu Kush if not for Alexander?

Charismatics can be the driving force for big changes in civilisation, unfortunately most of the time in the wrong direction.
