Because it is already on my laptop and I am comfortable with the functions and features of how it works. I utilize the bullets and highlighting and know most of the ctrl functions so that I don't have to slow down my typing speed of 93 words per minute. This is especially important to do when taking notes in class since we aren't allowed to actually record anything.

You can use a tablet or a laptop as notebooks, but can't record the audio?
If there's a mic, there's a way!
93 words per minute... pfff.... try that in portuguese! á é ã õ (all these require two key-presses) â ê ô à (these require shift+accent, then letter)... those extra keypresses mess up my typing speed in terms of words per minute.
Of course, if accuracy isn't a problem, and a few mistakes are allowed, typing speed can greatly increase... the usage of shortened words also helps

We can type our notes, but to record audio or video is considered stealing from the school. I know... it's frustrating for me as well.
93 wpm is considered fast for English. Try typing verbatim That's hard enough in itself.

I did... over a year ago!
But I wanted to add some text in the middle of the video so you guys could read those weird portuguese words... and it turned out to be a pain the ass to review the video and add those tags at the right time, position them just right... and... arghhh...
I can show the unfinished product, but it's... well... crap... incomprehensible (I think). (and the mic is the same from the other accent tag, which, for some reason, is on a low setting when I use that program to record videos, but works alright for skype... go figure)
Who wants some Portuguese with no subtitles?
