Just picked up bonus granddaughter from school and brought her home. She fell and has a pretty badly swollen ankle. She was crying a little bit but more about this being right before her birthday and summer vacation than about the pain. Hope it's not too serious. Her mom should be home soon.

Just got one of my iPad cases in the mail. It's the brown one that I primed, and not the black one that's coming from China.

Also, I got something back from the IDHS about my SSI application. They haven't approved it yet, but they just wanted me to approve a HIPAA release. Dad said he was told there would be an 8-page questionnaire about how my sleep disorders, autism, et al affect my daily life, but with them just asking for a signature on a HIPAA form, it actually seems like it's a good sign for once. It's been exactly 180 days since I made my appeal, and the prospect of some actual forward motion in this case is fucking great.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi share the 2.4GHz spectrum... a bit.
In order to try to avoid collisions, Bluetooth devices keep renegotiating the band that they use... however, at, times, they do collide and the result is a very bad experience.
Curiously, in my case, this usually means that the Wi-Fi connection lowers its bandwidth, rather than the Bluetooth one.

Time to get ready to go to a concert at the high school that I didn't even know I wanted to attend.

Here's the thing...granddaughter isn't even in it. But two of her friends are and one of their mothers is useless and never shows up for her daughter's performances so I have been drafted to fill in a spot in the audience for her. Chances are it will be our family who is there for her for graduation too. I'm okay with it...the kid needs someone to care and it's a spot I filled for several of my kids' friends back when they were in school.

FWIW I have had interoperability issues with some devices that behave in a similar fashion.

I haven't done a lot of testing, but it seems to mostly affect the Bluetooth receiver in my A/V receiver. It's a 5+ year old Sony receiver, and I can't offhand find which version of Bluetooth it supports. I'll probably just get a 50' optical cable and skip the Bluetooth altogether, but I'm waiting until they straighten out the debt ceiling in Washington before I buy anymore junk. If my social security doesn't come in June then I'm going to be scrabbling for ways to pay my bills. I've got too much out on my credit cards atm even without that. Hopefully our government won't take too long to sort itself, but I'm not holding my breath. (Oop, it's Bluetooth 4.2; that shouldn't be an issue, but maybe I need a better transmitter.)

Fuck. The Twins game is on Apple TV tonight, so MLB.tv doesn't broadcast it. What the fuck did I pay $140 for if they're not going to carry the fucking games?
