What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
OK, guys... need to ask all you smart people a question ... Let's not make a big deal of it ... I didn't want to start a separate thread...

I've have a urine infection for a little over a week. No big deal, I still go to work, still fairly normal, except maybe only 90% energy.
I just need to go to the toilet 2 or 3 times during the night and then it feels like a mild burning sensation and most times I don't wee out a lot.

The doctor gave me some antibiotics and said they'll ring with the urine results.
They rang yesterday to say the urine is negative for infection and that I can cease taking the antibiotics...

Does anyone have any predictions? Good bad or otherwise..
(I've already talked myself into the worst case scenario and that I'll be dead in 4 weeks!) Bring it on! Tell it to me straight?)
No God, No fear.

Always take your full course of antibiotics. Never stop half way through. That's how you breed super-bacteria... and those will then become a public menace, with you as the #1 victim!

I would start pumping yourself full of cranberry juice. Try to find stuff that's not from concentrate. Also I don't know where you live but if you can find a product called Azo  in your pharmacy, get it. It will eliminate the burning.

Also - finish that antibiotic. I'm with Poca on that. AND get a second opinion. Any doctor that tells you that you don't have to finish an antibiotic is questionable.

I had kidney stones a few years back, this sounds similar to my symptoms, the mild burning sensation could be the passing of tiny fragments?
Any sign of blood in the urine?

Possibly a kidney stone that's not fully obstructing anything yet.  If it is, though, get it taken care of because they can really mess you up.  Also, kidney stone pain, so I've heard, is second only to child birth in terms of pain level so for your sake I hope it's not a kidney stone.  Do you drink a lot of milk or other calcium heavy beaverages?  Calcium stones are more common than other kinds...

Don't dilly dally; messed up kidneys because you waited to take care of a problem can be bad in the future.  You can really mess stuff up.  I'd definitely get a second opinion and in the meantime try to keep your urine dilute so if it is kidney stones you're not encouraging the formulation of crystals.  Don't drink milk products, and probably err toward the clear fluids rule until you see another doc.

NH, Massachusetts, and some of the other New England states are talking about joining the Atlantic timezone, but with no DLS changes during the year.  I'm all for it.

It's pretty similar here.  Sunset is 4:49 today, by the early part of December, it'll be at 4:27.  Sunrise will be almost 8am in a few weeks.

The time change sucks.  I don't care if it's dark when I leave for work, but it would be nice to have a little daylight when I get home.

Apparently you're both nonmigratory.

If they did a urinalysis they should have looked for other things besides bacteria/yeast...... a cause of infection, unless they are dip shits. Did they talk about RBC's or WBC's in the urine? Glucose? Ketones? Protein? Specific gravity?

Not enough info. Go back to the doc

Not exactly, I take a trip or two south during the fall/winter to soak up some sun.
