What's everyone up to right now?

Went to my first Business 101 class. It seems fairly decent, even if I did have to change up my dinner, since the Subway near me and the College caught fire and is closed.

However, a more pressing problem has arisen: I cannot buy the textbook for the course. It's not that it's out of stock at the bookstore. Here's the thing: apparently, the Business department is pushing for the 101 classes to use more ebook versions of the text than physical, including including the access code for the ebook in the registration fees. When I bought it, the people behind the counter did everything in their power to keep me from buying the paper edition, saying I should use the eBook version and that the teacher should have given us the access code. Unfortunately, he did not. It did not come up in the conversation during the class, it is not on the syllabus, and looking on the D2L page for the course, there is nothing whatsoever indicating exactly what the access code should be.

According to the syllabus (the only place related to the course that mentioned any access code):

"Textbook: Business Essentials (11th Edition) by Ebert.
AND the online access code for MyBizLab which is included with the book if purchased in Oakton’s bookstore. The access code is also available for purchase separately online."

Heavily implying we're supposed to buy the physical edition in order to get the access code. I've sent him an email (not sure he'll actually respond to the email) and a voicemail message (his Cell Phone number is on the syllabus) asking for clarification.

Well, what happened was that they scheduled 4 people for my time slot with the same doctor. I was second in line. They took the first guy back at 1:05. They didn't see me until 2:20. They spent over an hour with him and I barely got ten minutes with the doctor. How's this at all right?

So they quad booked the same quack?

Kinda defeats the purpose.

Still at the vets. Red blood cell count was very low. White blood cell count was very high. She has a ton of fluid in her belly. They are going to drain it and send it to a lab. There might be a tumor hidden under all that fluid.

I am so grateful that I have good credit. I ended up applying for care credit since the total for all this has now jumped to nearly $2000. I told them to do what they needed to do.

They showed me what they took out of her belly. She's a tiny cat so I was surprised when they said it was 850 ml. of fluid. That's nearly one liter. It was very bloody so that tells them a few things. They are keeping her overnight, giving her fluids and pain meds. I'll know more in the morning.

I just received news about my cat. There is a fairly large mass in her belly that is the source of her blood loss. She's also anemic which means that any attempts to try and remove it might kill her. In addition, they would be looking at removal of the spleen along with a partial removal of her liver. She's lost a lot of muscle mass and they don't think she would survive such a surgery.

It's going to be a very bad day today and I have to pick her up from the emergency vet and take her to my regular vet so that she can be PTS.
