I agree we have freedom of speech, and disagreement is part of human nature. What I do disagree with is the insults people throw around that are not justified, to insult someone with out proof in the argument is nothing more than being a loser or cry baby.

Anonymity on the internet tends to do that to some people. However, I've found that the vast majority of people here are respectful of other people's opinions. Respect doesn't mean you have to agree with their opinion, or even be nice about it when debating it. Respecting another person's opinion only means you shouldn't simply discard it without properly discussing it, or tell them to shut up about it.

Sorry I have to disagree with the respect on this forum, in the past it was much better, however as of late with the newest members respect is not a part of their understanding, not all but some. If a Christian even hints they are wrong they go ballistic, shooting of at the mouth without regard to another. I understand what debate is about, yet these do not, they want to discredit the Bible yet when I supply evidence through scripture they whine like little babies and then run off, that is not debating, it's childishness. Yeah, I can defend Christians. I support the true ones. You know who is a real Christian? A person who is incapable of hatred, a person who can forgive someone who killed their mother or raped their child - A truly forgiving person. So, Christians are truly forgiving, yet believe that people who commit "sin" deserve hell? That doesn't sound forgiving to me. Luckily your opinion of what Christians are doesn't actually match up with reality. Christians are people who believe Jesus Christ is God. Anything beyond that and we're getting into describing Christian denominations, not Christianity in general.

You think you could teach the others on here the difference between Christianity and denominational beliefs, it sure would make debates much easier here.
Tiberius, I do not think any Christian here wants to see anyone go to hell and that is what it sounds like you're describing, I hope I'm wrong. We do repeat what scripture says about sin and hell, why isn't that acceptable here, atheist who want to debate scripture need to understand that's what scripture says, and if they want to debate hell they should pull back on their sensitivity and emotions, like they believe we should when we're insulted.

No, I don't want to ban Christianity. It should be obvious that one person's (or many people's) view on the forum is not the view of everyone on the forum, or the forum in general. We suppose freedom of speech and expression here. It's inevitable that you'll run into opinions that you don't agree with. Debate them, don't tell people to be "easy, slow, with kindness" or else you'll leave. You're the one not respecting people's beliefs there!

I agree with what you say, it's those who would rather call Christians stupid, arrogant and ect. instead of debating issues that are beginning to hurt this site and I think it's terrible, this site is the best debate site I've found when a actual debate can be had. I understand things will heat up at times, I've done my share. I also understand that the atheist and Christian world views differ in what's polite and such but there's middle ground for everyone to meet on.

I wish that the stereotypical image of an Atheist was an intellectual in a lab cloth, with a bow tie and glasses, who can CALMLY, WITH KINDNESS, WITHOUT SNARK AND SARCASM refute creationism, conspiracy theories, homeopathy, whatever you find irrational.

Yet when a Christian brings proof about scripture we are suppose to repeat that proof time and again, that is according to many members here. I've personally been told that I'm being stupid if I do not keep repeating it. Do the Christians have to accept what non believers say and not the other way around. Through the scriptures I've brought proof about scripture, yet others believe I should argue scripture outside of it, really, what's up with that.

Look, Kemotx, I agree that being harsh with people kind of sucks. But with Christians, Atheists have to repeat again and again the points they are trying to make, because we get frustrating answers like "prove it" and "I know my faith is true so I don't have to believe that" or more than anything else "God did it."

It's frustrating, and eats away at our patience and determination. I was determined to not be a vulgar person when I joined this site, but as time went on, I got sick of the Christian unwillingness to take ANYTHING I said into consideration. When I could point out their flaws irrefutably, they just ignored me.

Maybe the Christians don't call us bad names or insult our personalities as much, but they are no less rude than you claim we atheists are, because they won't show any willingness to consider that "hey, maybe that atheist has a point."

It's not an excuse, it's a fact. At no point have you supplied evidence through scripture. You toss chapters and verses and make them mean what you want them to mean. That's a standard of evidence fit for a retard.
