Nothing created the universe because it wasn't created.
It just morphed ...(from a toaster maybe?)

Abiogenesis on a universal scale! yep ...it started out of nothing. (heavily compressed mind you ...
The main problem in understanding how things came to be is that one first has to understand the concept of what nothing is.  Now the funny thing is that anyone who knows the basics already knows that nothing is the source material for hydrogen.  It's just that it's difficult to understand the properties of what we call nothing.  Although celestial hydrogen does come from nothing it just doesn't pop into existence fully formed.  It's the culmination of a very complex process that transforms elemental particles into celestial hydrogen gas.  And once the hydrogen gas has been created the process of celestial creation really takes off.

The hydrogen clumps together, creating dense balls of hydrogen that go nuclear and turn into stars.   The star process cooks the hydrogen into heavier and more complex elements.  Eventually various planets are formed and the planets continue to make their own elements and chemical compounds.  At some stage under the right conditions the planets produce living molecules which evolve into complex life forms, such as what happened here on Earth.

This tool explains the process.  http://scaleofuniverse.com

It also shows why the Big Bang Theory is rubbish.

No specific god. I strive to keep an unbiased view. I know it sounds like bs. Even if our universe is the result of two merging universes they had to have come into existence from some starting point that most feasibly in my opinion was not dust and most definitely not a galactic programmer but I guess you could call it that or a toaster. The word God or the Lord just sounds right. More respectful towards whatever gave us the ability to sit and discuss.

Nothing "gave" us those abilities.  What about this commands,or requires respect - I don't even know if respect is applicable?  Do you respect your car keys as well?  Look, I think you should go with your gut- if it sounds like bullshit......

-it is.

The word god sounds nice to you, I think that vermicelli is a nicer sounding word than god. How about we call "it" Vermicelli...or,, no no, wait, Cellar Door? I mean really....wtf are we talking about here?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. Ok, so the Universe was made by a generic god. How? By what mechanism? How do we know this?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

-because however the universe arose....we're just going to call it "god" - that's the answer to your every question, Stimbo, pay attention!

Wink

What mechanism>? God.

How do we know>? God.

This is really easy to explain, god were gods when god godded god over the god. Checkmate!

So basically you're saying god explains god explaining everything?

Ok, so "Lord God Almighty Jesus King of Jews" sounds right to you as a name for a diffuse abstract principle of causation which is on very shaky physical and philosophical ground. Fine. Just don't act like you know *anything* about its properties. And whenever you use it in conversation, please always add a disclaimer "I do not mean by that what is usually meant by everyone else".
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Not a Christian. No one said anything about Jesus. Would indeed consider it all mighty and righteous though.
