...it's intensified by decades of christian privilege, and so it's so much stronger now. The fact is, you've got the laws here in place for a reason, and no matter how much you've enjoyed being allowed to break them in the past, the only way the situation is going to improve and be fair is by pushing back the tide of privilege.

Religious groups have just as much right as any other group to use public property on which displays of conscience are displayed. Go get you secular humanist manifesto, or whatever floats your boat, carve it on a monument and place it next to the cross. Issue solved. Freedom preserved. The alternative is just censorship, plain and simple.

I think that if anyone did that, there would be a very loud and indignant outcry from Christians. Do you really believe that they would be okay with what you propose?

After 25 years of lawsuits and court rulings about the cross on Mount Soledad, there is a proposed solution in front of Congress.
The giant cross stands on government-owned land overlooking Mission Bay and La Jolla and has been at the center of a legal battle that reached the U.S. Supreme Court.
Court Won't Hear Case on Mount Soledad Cross
Now, Congress is close to passing a defense bill that would include a transfer of the property from the federal government over to the Mount Soledad Memorial Association. If approved, it would eliminate the concern by opponents that a cross on public property violates the constitutional separation of church and state.

They act like we're going to blow it up or something. The Episcopal church, literally next-door, has agreed to take it and erect it on their land. It's ridiculous. At this point, it's just a bunch of crusaders trying to make an illegal point.

How much will the Christians be paying for this land that belongs to the government?

Because if the government is giving land away for the purpose of allowing monuments, I want in on that.
