Materialististic lives over paradise?

RE: Materialististic lives over paradise?
This is not the representative Christian view but I see it thus. IF God made us and inbuilt into us certain basic desires and quirks. I don't believe he would do this only to frustrate us with a blanket ban! Alcohol is a good example. "mine maketh glad the heart of Man." When Jesus turned water to wine at the wedding feast he'd not have done it fo for the guests to stand around soberly talking.

As to homosexuality, it was (apparently) Gods design for the human being and he put the prostate... Well.... There. If his plan was for humans not to enjoy it, why leave it so handy? That's like leaving you X box in your kids room and forbidding him from playing on it!

All such pleasures can be overdone as I learned to my sorrow. When alcohol becomes something you hide behind it can do a lot of damage. But to make a blanket ban is not internally consistent.

If for some reason some woman or husband denies sex to their spouse then if it was me I would insist lol. If she was sick, hurt than that's fine. If it's for no reason, then the husband/wife is not doing good at all.

We all like to have fun with our family, the difference is that you want to rape your family members. PS would women at the beach have to wear Burqinis? It's hard to go for a paddle whilst you're wearing 8 tons of bedsheets, or do the women stay on the sand and make the picnic for everyone else? So much knowledge Sleepy, where do you put it all?

Aw hell no! I've seen what happens when repressed people get a taste of alcohol, it's not pretty. If we want mellow muslims, we should pack up their bowls to the brim Tongue
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I've been T-total for around 4 years now, it was a personal choice I made to better my physical health (i'd had a big operation that had left me quite weak). Despite not wanting to drink, I could see no logic in issuing a blanket ban on others wanting to drink. The god described in the Qur'an is one of infantile stupidity. The whole story makes Allah out to be some vindictive wanker who enjoys playing silly buggers. All of his creations are constantly messed around, like a sadistic video game in which there's no chance to win unless you're a miserable, sexist pig. There's a thousand and one ways to have fun without alcohol, that's obvious, there's even a thousand and one ways to have fun if you abstained from pre-marital sex (some people, like Sleepy, have to deal with this whether they like it or not). But when you start issuing irrational blanket bans on things you often expose your own insecurities. There's obviously no point in trying to get Sleepy to acknowledge that he's a horrible little grub, even though every syllable he utters is loaded with bitterness and ignorance.

Emboldened for your reading pleasure:

Well, that's a bit of luck, because I hear those things are very popular. Especially the flesh air animal shows on the beach.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Aren't tits and alcohol Allah's creations too? Sounds like yet another Qur'anic contradiction to me.

I've danced with girls, partied( Thank Allah I've never tasted alcohol), gotten loose, done all types of typical American teenager things.

Thankfully with the blessings of Allah, a lot of the previous faults have improved. And God willing, Allah will continue to help me to help myself become a person of better character. That's something we all need to focus on.

I've been there, I've done the things many of you do now. I know for a fact it doesn't stand an ounce in front of the true path of righteousness. The path of morality, the path of virtues, the path of patience, ethics, kindness, compassion, love of knowledge and wisdom. It does not compare.

Those sexual encounters will end, at the end of the day who is there? Your spouse if you are married. Where does the alcohol go? Destroys your liver and takes thousands of lives each year. What does the dancing and partying do besides a wild and fun night? Lust, lustful thinking.

Lust is perfectly ok in marriage. Islam encourages wife and husband to have rich sexual lives.

Ayatollah Khamenei "Woman is a flower. How evil of a man to treat a flower w/ violence and w/out appreciation."
" Woman is a candle to the family members. She is a source of comfort, reassurance, and tranquility

You can look at the countless quotes of Prophet Muhammad to treat women with respect.

Many Muslims do not do this. Indeed Allah will those who are unjust. There is no stone that will go unturned. The old men who marry young girls in countries such as Yemen today forcefully will surely get the wrath of Allah in this life or the next. Children are different today. They have the ability to be children which is new in human society for maybe a hundred years or less.
No Muslim country is perfect, there is a lot of work to be done but in fact those that are pious are in the minority. Those who are righteous, good of heart are not in the majority.

The real question remains what type of lives do you choose to live.
Lives of indulgence and materialism which will run out, or one where you strive to improve yourself and increase your knowledge base, improve your manners. The life of materialism will not bring you an ounce of satisfaction as will devoting yourself to truth, honor, wisdom, knowledge, virtues, morality, kindness, sincerity, being genuine. The type of person that when you leave people wish you were there and wish you did not leave.

Prophet Muhammad S.A.W
" The believer is like water. He purifies those all around with him."

"I have not been sent except to perfect your moral traits."

I realize many of you have socially liberal beliefs and one of the bigger issues is regarding homosexuality, for those that are heterosexuals as well.

This is something the media heavily promotes. In a ultra-capitalist society it's going to happen. The greatest citizen in the eyes of a capitalist is a bi-sexual because the bi-sexual has the possibility to consume and buy products marketed towards heterosexuals as well as homosexuals. For the heterosexual, the avenue of homosexual products and marketing is generally not a big money maker. They want the most avenues available for citizens.

A homosexual makes the decision to engage in that activity with the person of the same gender. Thinking homosexual thoughts doesn't make you gay. But homosexual 'sex' is senseless. It is not something any wise person will ever partake in. This might be upsetting based on the conditioning you all receive but you do not want to be on an unfavorable side on the Day of Judgement.

Quran 3:134

"Who spend [in the cause of Allah ] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good"

Are you saying you have homosexual thoughts but don't act on them due to your own wisdom?

I've had homosexual thoughts but then instantly thought "ew no bumming someone is disgusting" But that's because I'm straight it's not a lifestyle choice.
Are you saying I might one day watch queer eye for the straight guy or Will and Grace then decide I've made the wrong choice?

Plus what products do gay people buy that straight men don't?

The only marketing towards homosexuals I've seen is in those gay phone sex advertisements.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

You impress me more and more with every post. Not many posters here are so willing to poke fun at their religion. Big Grin

I guess free will would also count as one of god's deliberate temptations, too: "you guys can do whatever you want! But ooh, don't do this, this, or this, else I'll toast your fucking ass raw. Whatever you want, though! Boooooo!"

I think god became a ghost, at the end there. Tongue
