RE: Demons
Charming I'm sure. Christian values at work there.

I understand why you're not interested in the subject, because it goes against all the other pseudo-philosophical bullshit you post on here, as it represents a gross misunderstanding of nature, reality, history, medicine, and various other facets of society; while simultaneously contradicting your supposedly 'higher' beliefs.

I say again, you are a fine example of why religion is dangerous. See the above obscenities when you were challenged.

And please don't use profanity at me, it's highly offensive.

WTF!?!

ROFLOL

Did you actually read what I said? It seems not. With such effective blinkers the reasons for your world view become very apparent.

And there was me thinking you wanted a discussion. I guess you just wanted to vent some. It was a pleasure to be abused.

Mmm. I read your posts. You talked about the garden of eden then called me a "twat". did you have a serious point to make with regards to your belief in body-inhabiting demons which I missed. Please repeat.

RE: Demons
I said this:

"I guess some illness being apart from health is anti God... so illness can be bad (can I reserve the right to change this? Tongue). I need to qualify the subject of religion which is spiritual health."

And you came back at me with:

"you're insane"
"You are exactly why religion is dangerous"
"Go to a pyschiatrist and tell him that you believe somebody has an evil spirit inside him and see what happens."

It wasn't me that started the unwarranted hostilities.

If you really don't understand what I'm talking about I apologise for not realising the extent of general ignorance of the subject.

Well forgetting the quotemining which you Christians seem to have an uncanny knack for....

"I guess some illness being apart from health is anti God... so illness can be bad (can I reserve the right to change this? ). I need to qualify the subject of religion which is spiritual health."

Well you need to clarify what the fuck this means in relation to the topic.....

RE: Demons
"quotemining" ...Exqueeze me!?

The Christian bible concerns itself with our spiritual nature. The point in believing in God is to achieve a full life. Casting out demons is expelling that inside us that prevents us from achieving a full life.

I guess you're wanting to discuss this with someone with firm views on the subject, which I am certainly not. I'm interested in working it out.

And have you any statistics what-so-ever that back up the idea is good for our "spiritual" health? The studies i have seen suggested otherwise, such as finding strong correlation between those who partake in a religion and those with developed mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, delusion and paranoia.

Religion has also been found to have a strong negative correlation with divorce rates, education, healthcare, anger, violence, alcoholism and teen pregnancy.

Here is a very thorough analysis; you'll need to sign up to read it all:

Does this really sound like good "spiritual" health???

It's clear to see, Mr. Frodo, that Religion works for the mental and physical health of a person about as well as Head On does for migraines, the placebo fools the ignorant into believing while at the same time stealing the reality of the situation right out from under their eyes.

RE: Demons
amw79 when I was a Christian this was my specialty. I was fully involved in the ministry of deliverance as they called it in my church. The belief was that demons are fallen angels from gods kingdom. That Jesus cast these demons into a herd of swine that later threw themselves off of a cliff is due to the biblical teachings that swine were unclean animals in gods eyes, therefore killing them was not a bad thing.

I dealt with people during my time in the ministry that would launch verbal threats at me and when I spoke the name of Jesus they would fall out and start either foaming at the mouth or writhing all over the altar. Back then I thought these were demons but now as an atheist I believe these are caused by psychological disorders such as shizophrenia etc. Or mentally induced conditions due to the placebo effect because of the teachings of the church.
There is nothing people will not maintain when they are slaves to superstition

RE: Demons
Frodo, by your understanding, a psychopathic murderer would be possessed by a demon, correct?

Those types of people generally have a chemical imbalance in their brains which causes this sort of antisocial behaviour - they're often born with it. So, would you say that the demon possessed the child at birth? Maybe it's the parents' fault for not protecting the child?

Just so you know, I'm not trying to gang up on you or anything, lol.
