Demons

RE: Demons
Ridicule is not a valid reason to dismiss it. I don't agree with you reasons for separating religion and spirituality. Contained in those links, from reputable sources, are descriptions of spirituality as practiced within religions.

(BTW thanks for carrying the quote... it's actually from 'Making friends and influencing people' by Dale Carnegie ...something I just looked into after watching Warren Buffet sing it's praises)

You try say that to the hippies or new agers who are strictly non-religious yet still extremely spiritual.

I'm strictly non religious. So are all the Christians I know. It's all the same subject to me.

RE: Demons
How are you non-religious??? Christianity is a religion... therefore followers of Christianity are religious.

I guess he means that he does not subscribe to institutionalized religion. But since it's fr0d0 I might be wrong on this one. He does not belong to a particular church or sect.
There is nothing people will not maintain when they are slaves to superstition

RE: Demons
It's this definition that Christians hate: "very devoted to a set of beliefs or to duties".

The religious are dutiful rather than truthful. They have rules which if disobeyed mean they fail, rather than being themselves and understanding that they will fail and that's ok. They follow protocol rather than inspiration.

I agree.

I know, fr0d0, that you are referring to 'organized' religion... but why do you feel the need to play with the definition of 'religion'/'religious'?

For the reasons stated above.

RE: Demons
But isn't that one of the other meanings of 'religious'? Why does it have to mean both at once?

RE: Demons
I simply say it how it is - Christians do not align themselves with the term 'religious' for the reasons stated above.

Not related to the prevalent misunderstanding of the term in popular understanding.
