Obama gives lobbyists the boot

The notion of corporations having the rights of "persons" dates to an 1819 Supreme Court case, Pad. Some 46 years later we got around to giving Blacks the same status.

If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...

I think we need an amendment to the constitution that specifies that a corporation is a "person" for tax, asset ownership, financial liability and other financial accounting purposes only. It does not have any other rights afforded living citizens. I'd like to think a new supreme court at some point down the road will reverse their Citizens United ruling but given how far to the right wing both parties currently are, I don't look for that to happen anytime soon.
