Is Satan shown lying in the bible?
February 2, 2014 at 12:14 pm
They say Satan is the father of lies. They say he's come to steal, kill, and destroy. Is he shown actually doing much of anything in the bible, though.
If you believe that the serpent in Eden was Satan, he told Eve that eating the fruit would make her more like Yahweh, and she wouldn't die like Yahweh said they would. She eats the fruit, becomes more self aware, and after getting kicked out they live for 900+ years. We can be certain that Adam and Eve weren't meant to be immortal, since there was a separate tree in the garden for that and I can't imagine an immortal being created with the ability to bear young. If you find our current population huge, just imagine what it would be if no one died.
Satan tempts Jesus by offering him the kingdoms of the world, which apparently he does have the power to give.
Satan seems to be the resident butt monkey of the religion. A scapegoat used to make Yahweh look better, even though christians will still sometimes say that hurricanes and stuff were sent by Yahweh as punishment. Satan is stated as evil. Is he really shown to be evil?

Genesis 3. He lied to Eve about the fruit. He lied to Christ throughout the 40 days he spent in the desert.

So 2 out of the 3 interaction that depict him, he is lying for sure. In job we do not know exactly how he did what he did, but jobs friends were somehow convinced that he sinned.

Examples? Jobs friends were convinced Job must have sinned because they believed if he hadn't, then Yahweh was letting him suffer for no good reason. Which was true, but they didn't know that.

That if you eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge you will not die. She did and she died. Once at the evolution of the garden and again at the end of her life.
With Christ in his temptations he misrepresented Christ's authority to make bread out of stones durning his 40 day fast, he told Christ if he cast himself off the temple angels would catch him. That if Christ bow down to him he would be allowed to rule the world.
Yes Christ could have made bread, but in doing so satan would have lead Christ in exceeding his fathers will.
In the second one satan was speaking for God. The problem satan did not know what God the Father would do.
The bowing down would meant satan would be in control of Christ and even if he turn the world over to Him satan would still be In control.

He tempts Christ into making stones to releive his hunger. Are you saying that Christ could NOT do such a thing?
Quote: he told Christ if he cast himself off the temple angels would catch him.
How is that a lie. Since Christ did no such thing then how do you know what would happen?
Quote:That if Christ bow down to him he would be allowed to rule the world.
Again how is that a lie?
Quote:Yes Christ could have made bread, but in doing so satan would have lead Christ in exceeding his fathers will.
So NOT a lie at all
Quote:In the second one satan was speaking for God. The problem satan did not know what God the Father would do.
Still no lie
Quote:The bowing down would meant satan would be in control of Christ and even if he turn the world over to Him satan would still be In control.
And not a lie either then

Yahweh said they would die that day, and they didn't. They lived much longer than anyone is really even capable of living, if they meant the same kind of years we mean. If he just reckons time different, then I guess the joke's on him.
I doubt he'd be in control of Jesus any more than he's in control of anyone. Besides, who would really want to follow Yahweh? He's a despicable person. Not saying the devil is without fault, but he can't be much worse.

Of coarse you all see it that way, people who have no absolute moral values can twist everything into what they want, truth actually has escaped you and that is a shame because you have no true foundation to live by, just twisted lies.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
