Ah, the problem of you not wanting your idea to be scrutinized by me openly... I'm seeing that more and more on this forum.
Lying for jesus again I see.. I see a whole lot of that from you on this forum.
It's hilarious that you would think ANYONE would be worried about your scrutiny of the scientific accuracy of the global flood story. That takes a extra special bit of lying for jesus there!
There's not enough material in the story to stretch around with your apologetics. The scientific point I was referring to is that all of the new rainwater had a temperature upon entering that couldn't help strongly effecting the atmosphere way beyond what the ignorant goat lovers that wrote the story imagined.
Before I opine my thoughts as to how it would effect the human inhabitable zone of the earth, please tell us from where, according to your special bible decoder ring, did the flood waters come from and go to? That would give us an idea of the water's original temperature.
I'd also just love to know how jesus' fairy magic moves real physical matter such as flood waters to begin with. Do sparkles and magic fairy dust spew out of his godly ass as depicted in Disney movies?

What if the primary source for the water was not rain?
Let's say for the sake of arguement things happened like the bible says and massive springs gushed out water for days... what happens to your 'precious Scientific theory' then?

Brakeman, I was always taught that the water came from a mixture of rain and springs deep in the earth.
All the plants must have died during the flood. Once he landed, Noah wouldn't have been able to feed his animals. They would have gone extinct.
Also, why isn't there more of a fossil trail from where the ark landed to where the animals ended up? Did the kangaroos walk all that way to Australia? How did they cross the ocean by themselves?
Elephants are large animals. How was there enough food for just one elephant to migrate? Noah couldn't have put all the animals and enough needed food on the ark. He would have had to keep enough food for his family and all the animals for not just a year but for years while plant life returned to earth.

This is such a topic that one has to bring up at least some numbers. Let's consider that Earth is spherical for the sake of simplicity. Then:
Earth's radius = 6371 km
Earth's volume ~ 1,083 * 10^12 km^3
Let's say that the water levels rose by approximately 5 miles (~ 8 kilometers). Than the volume of the water sphere layer added to the Earth's mass is 3 * 10^9 km^3. Now let's calculate it's total mass. It is approximately 3*10^18 tonnes. Which is about as twice as much as total mass of all Earth's hydrosphere.

How many people are supposed to have died during the watery genocide of almost all humanity? What would have been the effect of so many bloated corpses of animals and humans?

Drich, aside from the obvious absurdities of the flood myth that have already been pointed out to you, does it bother you at all that your religion not only sold you a fictional story as truth, but also commited plagiarism in doing so?
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_flood_myths
The above article lists various flood myths that have been circulating the world, many told much before the bible came to existence.
What this shows, is rather not that there has been a huge flood that there is no evidence for that many cultures knew about, but that the flood was a common motif for legends around the world, coincidentally, just like some of the fundamental details about Jesus.

While I am quite astounded by your ignorant and selective approach to science, I have to wonder: how do you manage to ignore the baffling unoriginality of your holy book?

The best explanations come from guys like Hovind, who like to hypothesize about comets crashing to earth with enough ice that converting it to water would flood the planet, unaware that a comet that size would release enough energy to boil most (if not all) of the water on the planet.
Sites like RationalWiki, Talk Origins and Skeptic Report cover the many issues with the flood story. The Talk Origins site covers the issue extensively and does the math and the science, with a full slate of references and links. It shows how the flood story cannot stand on its own and requires a very heavy dose of supernatural intervention to, well... keep it afloat.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Maybe that's why the plantlife grew back so quickly. It had a lot of decaying animal matter to feed off of.
