No, I don't even cellebrate Xmas. I was just pointing out that Santa Clause, though only a myth is real. You have to look at things for what they are.

God is a reality and - lets say - evolution and Santa Clause are myths. Tongue
Evolution can be tested and demonstrated and scientifically proved IN REALITY this is how we can understand evolution.
How can YOU KNOW God however? How can you know that ANYTHING in the bible is true at all? Its just a book here is NO scientific evidence for its truth NOR can its truths be demonstrated in reality.
There are no evidence for miracles and God is the biggest miracle of all, and there is certainly no evidence for him.
The question is not whether God is disprovable but whether he is probable.

I keep having to explain this. God said the planet earth was spherical 1000 years before science. Isn't that some indication that God is scientifically proved in reality - or the theoretical science or evolution, the theory that itself seems to be evolving more than any evidence outside of speculation can provide?

This idea that so many people have that everyone thought that the world was flat before modern science came along is rubbish.

People have known that the world is a sphere since before the bible. The whole flat Earth thing is simply a myth!!

Well actually, the Bible never mentions a sphere, it mentions a circle:

"Isaiah 40:22
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in."

As far as I am aware, at no point in the Bible does it mention the Earth being a sphere, but of course if you can find the reference...

No.
You're going to have to do better than that. If a work of fiction indeed does get something right before science does that doesn't support the truth of the whole work of fiction!
If a science fiction book gets something scientifically correct that is then discovered to be true in reality later on, that doesn't mean the entire science fiction book is true! At least most of the rest of it probably is just that - science but, fiction!

Could you provide some evidence backing up that conclusion?

Here's some info: 'In the Middle Ages, most people thought the world was spherical, although Christopher Columbus believed the world to be pear shaped. Terry Jones blames Washington Irving for making this "lie" about it. He says "The Greeks knew it was round, Chaucer knew it was round, Roger Bacon wrote about the curvature of the Earth in the 13th century." If the Earth wasn't round, planes couldn't fly properly. Since the 4th century BC, no-one believed that the world was flat. (Forfeit: Flat) ' - extract from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_QI_...(C_series)
QI is brilliant.

The Hebrew word is chugh (hhug), which can also mean spherical. Only a spherical object like a ball appears as a circle from every angle. Some translations read "the globe of the earth" (Douay Version) and "the round earth." - (Moffatt)

Some critics try and conclude that a circle can be flat but a flat disc would more often appear as an elipse rather than circular. Remember we are talking about how the Earth looked from God perspective from heaven.

Actually, the Earth is

Excellent point, EVF! I hadn't even thought of that! I love it when someone throws me a curve like that!

I would argue that with science fiction a fanciful probability is addressed that science later produces a practical solution to. However, if science fiction, for example, considered the possibility of spirit creatures (angels, seraphs, cherubs) in some form as a type of creature we are not presently familiar with - like many creatures in science fiction - and later these creatures were somehow discovered by science that would be a different thing altogether, perhaps ... you got my brain working with your point.

Consider some myths of the ocean in superstitious times - great squids that were thought to be myths and myths that sprang from reality and back again the huge amount of creatures wierd and fascinating lurking in the deep places of the earth ....

Biblical scholars, also all so called early manuscripts you mention are all copies that have been done and redone by scribes and have not only been mistranslated at times but also edited to suit the biases of the scribe or copyist. That so called bible is nothing more than a bunch of copies of copies since none of the original manuscripts were ever found or are in existence today.

I don't waste my time trying to interpret biblical prophecies because for everyone you can mention to be authentic I can give you a hundred that are not.A useless game of tit for tat.
Daystar before you go running your mouth about how accurate bible prophecies are maybe you should go to this link and study some more.

RE: Most accurate prophecies EVAR! xD
If you truly let your imagination run wild, you might think of some things that are later on discovered in the future. But they never seem to be exactly correct. Even if they're very close.
For example, Leonardo invented the tank, but the first tank ever to be made was very different to Leonardo's tank. But I guess you could still say its a tank.
So if the tank Leonardo invented was in the bible before he thought of it, then the modern tank was made...would you consider that evidence of God? Well it clearly isn't. Perhaps that's even like saying the modern tank is evidence of Leonardo being superhuman simply because he thought of the tank first even though his tank is different! The only difference is, there is not a book that many people believe to be true that merely proclaims Leonardo to be God. If it did wouldn't it be the same? Wouldn't mean Leonardo was a prophet would it?
