So you believe out of fear. That's very common among the religious. The atheists who are ex-theists are usually those who have overcome that fear. Remember, fear tactics are what many religions use to control their followers. Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???" If gods are omnipotent beings, what on earth do they do with the worship, incense and prayers of the humans? No, if you are right and a god created the universe and mankind, it is because it's a twisted and sadistic being, who get kicks out of misery and we are merely a simulation, meant to amuse the deity like sociopathic children like to torment pets and critters. Even if any god was proven to me, I would of course acknowledge it, but it is not worthy of my respect, love and worship. When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

This thread was freaking PHENOMENAL.
JesusLover1, you are a real gem. I am confirmed in my original thought that you are no poe, just some 13 year old with very little intelligence. Good try, honestly. But you really should just go. You do not have the tools to do intellectual battle with some of the people here.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

In any fundamentalist group, a paradox exists where any new person (or idea) sufficiently fundamentalist to be accepted by the group is likely to be so ridiculous that they risk being rejected as a parodist (or parody). Why did you ignore my comment about terrorism? Yes, lies is one of the few things Christianity can get away with in the Western world. If they could, I know many CHristians would love to have new Inquisitions, Crusades and genocides. Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???" It's so easy to let that evil god of yours off the hook by saying that, isn't it? Problem is, saying so doesn't make it true. |
