You! Get into the closet! Quick!

RE: You! Get into the closet! Quick!
I've known about the Christian yellow pages for years. I don't think it is such a bad idea really.

RE: You! Get into the closet! Quick!
When I met my husband he was going threw a divorce and had custody of his 2 year old son because the vessel (aka birth mother) was an alcoholic at the time, but later switched to heroin. He ended up with full custody and she got pretty much nothing. I married my husband a couple years later then had a baby and we raised the two children as ours. We kept my husbands son away from his vessel for years because of her addiction and problems with the law. When he was 12 years old the vessel surfaced. We thought that it would be a good idea to permanently remover her parental rights to protect him so we went to a lawyer and started adoption proceedings. In the final papers it was stated that we are of Caucasian race and Christian religion. We asked the lawyer why she put the Christian thing in there and told her we are not Christians. She told us that it was better to leave that in there. The adoption would go threw easier if we just said we were Christian than if we didn't. So we left it in there and lied in a court of law so I we could protect our son. Even a judge in a court of law cares if you're a Christian or not. It's not right, but what are you gonna do?

I just got one of those damned fish symbols and put it in the corner of the sign on the back of my truck. Have also been considering advertising in that damned xtain yeller pages.

I have often in the past really considered opening a xtian book/gift store. We have many and a few mega ones here in S. Texas and they all appear to be doing well.

Maybe going to one of those, purchasing a big cross with the inscription on it "The Cross of Calvary".

Then bust it up into lots of little slivers, stick them into individual little mini-test tubes, stuff a cork in it then sell them (in the back of xtain magazines, on ebay and such) advertised as an "Actual piece from the Cross of Calvary".
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

I feel for you Dotard. It must be hard listining to clients you have that are christians babbling on about how great god is and how much they praise god for your work.

I might be in the same boat as you and Binny. Once I get a job of course! Once I do get a job I will keep me being atheist off subject.

Wow. I am glad I am in sunny, liberal California in the industrial areas. What matters more is how well you are connected, through business than through some stupid church. It also may be the case that religion does not matter in Silicon Valley (not sure about SoCal, where I am right now, but my home is NorCal) is partly fed by the immense greed and selfish behavior there. And yes, that is a bad thing, but it could be worse. At least taking charge over who you are is easier and it is less of a matter of God and more of a matter of how well you function in a society of social pseudo objectivists.

Relevent happening update;

Yesterday I get a call from an individual. He says *****(<--censored for legal reasons) company came to his home to troubleshoot his heat-pump. Gave him an estimate of 856 dollars to repair it. Claimed it was an undersized metering device that needed replacement. He wanted a second opinion.

This ***** company pushes the whole "Christian" thing. Fish all over their trucks, ads and buisness cards and invoices. Sign on the truck says "Christian family owned since 1972".

I bet you all know where this is going.

I arrive at the home, he shows me their estimate. They charged this man $125 to come out and tell him a lie. I do my thing and all the problem was is a faulty thermostat. $79 for me to come out and tell him what was wrong, an additional $99 for me to replace the thermostat. $178 total.

The man flipped. Gave me $200 (in between his cartwheels and jig dances) and told me to keep the change. He was fussing that ***** advertises their "Christianism" and then "pulls shit like that", then comments on my honesty. Without thinking I blurted out, "Well, I'm not a christian."

The man hit the floor laughing. Turned out he was 'one of us'. A non-believer.

Before the day was up I get a call from ***** company. It was their field tech supervisor.

"I understand you took care of Mr. **** at (address) today."
"Yes sir I did."
"We received a call from him. He was very upset at us for our estimate."
"I don't blame him, you would be too if someone was attempting to do that to your mother or grandpa."
"Can you tell me what you found and what repairs you did?"
"Nope, if I did that then your customers wouldn't need to call me to save themselves over $650 and culminate me additional buisness in that neighborhood. Sorry. Oh, and really, if you're going to go with that whole "Christian" angle thing, you really ought to try to keep your dishonesty minimal."

(You could hear crickets chirping for the silence) "Anything else I could do to help you?" I ask.
Little silence, then he asked "Would you like to come work for us?"
"No. I'm not an employee. If you would like, I'll be happy to sub-contract for you, but I don't do the employee thing. Also, I'm not a christian."
"Oh." and silence again.
" 'K, Thanks for calling, you have my number if you wish to use me, give me a call. Bye."

And I chuckled to myself.

Too funny, Dotard....sad really.

I wonder if they even realize how such behavior affects people's view of Christianity. Then again...maybe they do not even care...maybe it is just a gimmick to them.
