RE: Creationist Senators block fossil bill
Quote:“I think it’s a good idea to designate the mammoth as the state fossil, I don’t have a problem with that. I just felt like it’d be a good thing to acknowledge the creator of the fossils,” Bryant told the Daily Beast.
You've got to give him credit-- he made sure that his stupid idea had an equally stupid reason behind it.

Unless he means that in addition to the mammoth, we should acknowledge limestone.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Every single one of your points could also be turned on the demonstrably larger christian apparatus, and yet you apparently have no trouble seeing the reasons why they do as they do... just not willing to spend even an iota of thought doing the same for a position you don't agree with, huh?

Ah well, it's hardly the only thing you don't think about, I'm sure. Rolleyes

I not sure if you remember, but in another thread I was working out some of the numerology in the Bible and came to the conclusion, that if the "rapture" happened, something like 18,000 people would be taken. I can't say for certain if that will be the case, but the math works. I do know that it will be a very small number. According to statistics, there are around 2.18 billion Christians worldwide. Do the math.
I already know the majority of Christian churches are false(referring to the leadership, not the lay-members), But I get where their motivation comes from.

Why are atheists out burning calories protesting something they don't believe is even true? no one protests Santa. Also why are they celebrating a roman god? You don't find that a bit strange?

In countries where islam is really an issue they kill you for being anything but a muslim.
And if most atheists are as fussed about it as I am they just go along with it. To be honest I'm not that bothered, I just find theists funny.

I suspect that in a forum labeled Christianity, you should expect that.

Well gee, maybe if people spent large portions of their adult lives defending a narrative about Santa that places him as a genocidal monster, and then decided that everyone in the world, regardless of their Santa beliefs, must obey the commandments of Santa, then maybe I'd be protesting Santa. In the meantime, everyone here can see what a weak argument you just made in order to excuse your fallacious beliefs. Dodgy

And on an atheism forum you should expect to have a few turds thrown your way. Remember, you can stop being an idiot whenever you want. Time to grow up and put away the fairy tales. There is a whole real world out there and it has nothing to do with your fucking bible, sonny.

Atheists taking the piss out of Christians by reminding them how they appropriated a pagan holiday as their "Christmas" hardly amounts to worshiping a Roman god. What part of "atheist" don't you understand? Or are oblivious and simple-minded your default states?
