I wonder if these gun nuts realize what guns can do to you, or are they like children wanting to play cowboys and Indians lol.

OMG Guns Everywhere
|
Living in England I simply fail to understand why any sane person would want to own a gun. In my almost 60 years of life here, the only guns I have ever seen here are the armed police occasionally at airports, and that's only in the last 10 years or so.

I believe it has to do with the misconception of fighting fire with fire. Gun fondlers think they can better protect themselves from the threat of other guns by themselves owning guns. It is an absurd concept, honestly, because owning a gun is not a necessary protection against other guns. Gun owndership merely equates to a false concept of safety.

I like guns and I think they're a lot of fun. But for the life of me I can't understand this mad fetish that the US has for them. But then, in Oz they've never been a huge issue. Even before the gun buy back in '96 not that many people had them. To be honest though, against most of the things that want to kill you here, guns really aren't that effective. If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71. Not to anyone who thinks for themselves. KUSA has provided some links to substantiate his position that gun ownership reduces crime. Can you provide anything of substance other than your own opinion to counter his claim?
I'm not against it or for it. It's not my state. I am curious to see how it pans out.
I reckon I feel much safer if I can take my gun with me everywhere, to shoot up them bad guys... don't you?
