Most horrifying painting of jesus. Ever

I'm not sure what the deal this painting but holy it is worse then saw. Jesus literally has a dude coming out if open wound in his side to give buddy (Possibly himself) a cup of his own blood. HOLY SHIT. Not te mention the the dudes in the corner. Bottom left dude looks like he is jerking it, bottom right dude is caught in some sick fascination, top left dude is asleep, and top right is praying?.
This is fucked up stuff.

In fairness the woman that did the "repairs" was almost as old as the fresco was anyway.
Not to mention there has been a massive boost to tourism for that region of Spain. Now everyone wants to see the fucking fresco.

It could mean something like the Christ being born from the death of the old self, to the new self, just as Eve was born from the side of Adams rib ?.
