Internet "hate speech" leads to violence

Anti-Muslim hate speech on the Internet is commonplace and can motivate some people to commit acts of violence against Muslims, according to a report released Tuesday (May 6) by Muslim Advocates, a legal and advocacy group in San Francisco.

“When you have threatening comments online and they go unchecked, people start thinking it’s acceptable,” said Madihha Ahussain, an attorney and the report’s lead author. “And it doesn’t take long to figure out that what becomes acceptable online becomes acceptable in the real world.”

This is already covered by laws prohibiting incitement of violence. Muslim Advocates, like any other aggrieved party, can collect evidence and submit a complaint to local authorities.

As far as the Muslim specific example, I think they should police their own backyard and submit their complaint for broader consideration once they can establish that the internet is no longer used for jihadist purposes.

Courts enforce laws that are written by politicians that ride waves of social thought. The waves of social thought are created from the vocal objections to sights such as this noseless woman.

The wave of social disgust must be flamed so that politicians, courts, and laws protect girls such as pictured. If the vocal objections do sometimes incite violence, the the vigilantes can be dealt with in court just the same.
