Isiah 45:7

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

That should settle it. God himself said he creates evil. Why is this even still a thing?

Good point.

I forgot about this scripture.

I looked it up in two other Bibles one says "I form the light and create the Darkness,I bring prosperity and create disaster; I,the LORD do all these things" new International version

and

"I create light and darkness;happiness and sorrow;I the LORD do all this" Contemporary English Version

one sounds not-as-harsh

The correct translation is calamity.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Ah, but then it teaches you a lesson you'll never remember.

What's ruffling my feathers with all this talk of purpose and life lessons is the implication that other people only exist so that I can be tested; they're merely one-dimensional extras in the soap opera of my life in which I am the main and only character.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Even worse..now something we used to chalk up to plain old bad luck is directed and malicious. Good job GC, I couldn;t even begin to smear gods good name as well as a believer.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Given the two words are interchangeable, your point is moot.

This, of course, brings up another issue, that of the reliability of translations.

If God is perfect and wishes that none be damned (he doesn't, there are people whom he specifically wants to be damned, but leave that aside for the mo'), why would he allow errors of translation in the Bible? Clearly, God could have removed the ambiguity about the Hebrew word 'rah' for instance.

Rather than being 'the word of God', the Bible bears all the marks of mistranslated mythology.

I think that if I were a god I would just use magic..rather than fallible human languages. Everytime you looked, you could understand it...even if you couldn't read. After all, I made your tiny little brains, I can pre-load them with whatever the hell I want.

G-C has tied his scrotum into knots trying to squirm his way out of this dilemma.

He fails constantly.

If his god exists - he's a dick.

The far more reasonable answer is that he is just as phony as all the other gods invented by man.
