Liberal and Conservative Oversimplistic Labels?
|
Socially I'm very liberal, but with the proviso if someone is advocating a conservative social creed, they damn well better be following it themselves.
Fiscally, I could see the government cutting spending 100 billion a year from the budget for 10 years in a row, and laying off upwards of a 1/3 of government employees over the next 10 years or so.
The roads are shitty enough as it is. I don't have to worry about this, but it may inconvenience city folks if they pull the lever on their toilets and the turd stays in the bowl.
You might want to scale back that 1/3 cut.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you

I don't see any billionaires working thirty thousand times as hard as myself or anybody I know. ![]() (July 7, 2014 at 8:26 pm)Ryantology (╯°◊°)╯︵ ══╬ Wrote:(July 7, 2014 at 8:11 pm)Blackout Wrote: There's a difference between thinking rich cocksuckers should be free to ride over everyone else and thinking they should share all their wealth with society That's something that can only be checked by analyzing each case and each person. And that depends on what you think working hard is, working physically very hard is not equivalent to working hard, sometimes having a great idea for a product gives you more than working everyday very hard. The richest people in my country have contributed by creating jobs, the richest guy in my country has a suede business and all his employers like him, he pays decent wages and gives prizes to those who work over the limit. Of course I don't know if billionaires in america are the same

Did he invent suede? Have you spoken to "all of his employees"? Meh, I'd pass on the "prize" if I was instead offered a better portion of the wealth that my productivity had created. I don't want to be a complete ass here, but honestly, the scenario you put forward right there is only lacking for a gingerbread roof. I think a little mythmaking might be going on.

Yes, because the best way to help the poor is to make the rich poorer, and the best way to make the weak stronger is to weaken the strongest... It is a myth that redistribution of wealth will solve the unequal class problem, not to mention the conflict efficiency V equality it causes, it's more like a matter of proportionality, I'm not talking about corrupt people, but people who legitimately earned money shouldn't have to fix others' problems, specially in the private sector, in public I can accept a maximum wage. Redistribution of wealth in europe is higher, many countries have progressive taxes, and guess what... It's not working, the poor are getting poorer in countries of crisis, in countries with super high progressive taxes rich people emigrate or create offshore accounts, same goes for the tax on the income of companies, it's too high that's why everybody put's their companies in Holland that has a 12.5% tax (including that rich guy I talked about)... Many countries have already thought in implementing a proportional tax (my bet) and instead lower the taxes on the poorer to compensate. I think ending poverty is a moral, ethical act and a necessity, but you can't end it by simply distributing wealth the socialist/marx way, you have to create stable jobs, because a huge problem arises, if the rich run out of money and get into crisis too, the same will happen with the poor.

I don't know how it is where you live, but in America, the corporatist mindset perpetuated by conservatives is that workers deserve none of what we get, and so should be eternally grateful for the generosity of the benevolent 'job creators'. This is, of course, not how they always thought. 150 years ago, the conservative mindset was that having black skin meant you didn't deserve anything at all, and 120 years ago, the conservative mindset was that having white skin meant that you deserved virtually nothing at all. And they'd do it today if they could get away with it. |
