I hear you to some extent. That's one reason I reject Araminian and Calvinist doctrines. I find it equally silly, or rather unreflective, to take as given a idea that apparently contingent features of the physical universe are actually fundamental.

Tongue in check? Is that like putting your money where your mouth is?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

In a lazy way, sure - but what we know about rainbows is that god didn't -need- to create them. Any way those conditions are met will yield a rainbow. I say waffles did it, you say god did it, but regardless, there will be rainbows so long as the properties of light and water are thus and thus.

Quote:Of course if you reject God, then yes a rainbow is a naturally occurring thing as you have defined it. However the context of our conversation presupposes that God is the creator.
You presuppose such a thing, I do not, nor does any conversation I ever enter into with anyone about any purported activities of any god. God could have happened upon this place, walked into a shitstorm of a flood that he didn't create and then pointed to a rainbow he had no hand in as a sign that he would not do what he had never done. Noah would have been none the wiser. All that such a conversation allows is the contents of the narrative specifically - I don't have to allow your entire holy book everytime I want to muse upon the absurdity of any given claim or story. Neither do you. It baffles the mind as to how you could approach these stories critically if you think that to do so we must presuppose a mountain of sidelines. Maybe, if you want to talk about presuppositionalism, take a note from presuppositionalists. The truth of god is ps, but not the contents of the revelation. This allows the bible to "get it wrong" without, ultimately, "being wrong".
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I can think of no instance where that consideration has stopped you. You should take a look at the '10 Questions Every Atheists Needs to Answer' thread this parody is based on.

It's meant to be a parody of Christians asking us the same questions in reverse.

Yet Alpha Male and orangebox21 were widely kudoed due to the intelligence of their responses. Did you miss that because us appreciating an honest, thoughtful response doesn't fit your preconceptions about us? You could stand to learn something from them. Not being hysterical about everything and having a sense of humor, maybe.

This seems to be a question more appropriately directed at Christians who frequent atheists forums and whine about what they read.

-----------------------------------

1. How is the method by which you became a Atheist reliable?

2. Apart from atheist dogma, how can you know what happens when we die?

3. What if you and your silly atheism are wrong and there is a heaven, hell or afterlife of some kind? (we Christians may have a leg up there?)

4. If you are atheisms unthinking lacky, how can you call yourself moral? Do you really think morality is simply a question of rule following? (Overall atheists are not a moral bunch. There are no consequences. Nothing to be moral for? And if by chance you are some moral beacon of society, how do you convince fellow atheists of that?)

5. If there was a God, in your opinion…. Do you, or do you not believe God "would give" man a free will? Thus, purposely letting the man decide for himself which direction he wants to go?

6. If all you do is follow man's rules, how does your life have any meaning? What makes it your life?

7. Where did that which you believe did not created the universe come from? (Everything has a beginning, and an end. If you believe the universe is infinite, then why is it?)

8. What about the unexplained? Have you not had anything happen to you, or someone that is unexplained? Or, is everything explainable? If so, then you, or anyone else explain the unexplainable.

9. What’s your view of Jesus? Have you read the gospel? Or, do Dawkins and his hateful cohorts views make more sense to you?

10. If there is but one atheism, then why does every atheist have a different pov?

Gee, that was really clever. How about you check out the thread where all your questions were already asked to see some responses?
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
