Yet more christian logic: christian sues for not being given a job she refuses to do.

Yet more christian logic: christian sues for not being given a job she refuses to do.
A pro-life nurse is suing a family planning clinic for not hiring her to do a job she outright refused to do in the interview.

Quote:So when Hellwege mentioned her affiliation with the “American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists” in her resume, the interviewer (Chad Lindsey) asked her if that would be a problem since, you know, conservative Christians + birth control = crazytown.

Hellwege said she couldn’t prescribe birth control since, in her unscientific mind, it caused abortions. Lindsey, knowing that all of the job openings involved prescribing birth control, told her there were no other positions available and that there was no reason to proceed with the interview process.

So she’s suing him.

This is the stupid fucking shit that the Hobby Lobby decision enables: birth control drugs do not cause abortions, but since apparently uninformed opinions without factual bases are equal to actual facts, morons like this woman and the ambulance chasers representing her can decide to just move forward as if their pretend moral objections are reflective of reality. It drives me fucking insane: the lawsuit draws attention to certain laws prohibiting people from being required to participate in an abortion, which is fine, except that's definitionally not what birth control does.

Where do these assholes get off, thinking that their goddamn fantasies are more important than the real lives and careers of the people they inconvenience? If there's any sense in the world this case will be shunted right the fuck off the edge of the earth as quickly as a lawsuit with Darth Vader as the defendant would be.

Your honour, my client claims that he was absolutely unaware of the purpose of the 'death star' and was simply told it was a space station designed as a retreat for the emperor. All the evidence suggests that (as a member of the security detail) he was never informed of this space stations true function and therefore cannot be held accountable for the destruction of Alderan.

Someone sho0uld tell her that your chances of getting a job drop dramatically if you tell the interviewer you won't be willing to complete a common task. I'm really sucky at sweeping floors because I'm not good at noticing small things at floor level, but it's just something bosses continue to ask me to do and don't like it when I tell them I'd really rather not.

Bailiff, remove the defendant for trying to Force choke me. Confused Fall

But in all seriousness, this is beyond the pale of stupidity.
Luke: You don't believe in the Force, do you?

Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

Suing is totally unequal to actually winning a lawsuit. You can sue for just about anything but that doesn't mean much.

So maybe we are being too tough on Hellwege ??

Most likely she has experienced a life time of cafeteria Christianity, and maybe even has read a great deal of the Bible too. Imagine her confusion after looking over a Scripture chock a block full of edicts, strictures, rules, commandments, restrictions, laws, decrees, and requirements, and then to sit through sermon after sermon where virtually all of it is ignored!

No wonder she thinks she can pick and choose what she will and won't do at work, that's how her CHURCH works !!!!

If I were a judge, I'd entertain evidence documenting her intermittent compliance with Scripture, and I just might grant her the job, but every jot and tittle of my ruling will be a Pyrrhic victory for the Christers !!

Agreed, but this is more a "fuck this is stupid" story, tinted with worry that this might actually gain some traction in the shadow of certain newly minted precedences. I mean, she already has some organizational support behind her, and it's enough to irk me even if this does get thrown out of court.

Stupid enough to work.

It just takes one diptard judge in Alabama to to think some specious piece of crap has judicial merit.
