Well people have been making these sort of predictions for hundreds of years and nothing has come of them. I doubt your friend has any specific insight. If the bible is really making prophesies, why isn't it specific? Why does God leave anything open to interpretation? If an all powerful being really could predict the future he would be clear about it, instead the bible and book of revelations is vague, interpretable and mostly mumbled confusion.
The real way to debunk it though is to say that predicting the future is impossible and there is no good reason to believe in god, making his 'return' rather irrelevant. RE: A friend said peace in the middle east is soon and god will return?

First, it's all bullshit.
Second, these end times idiots always seem to forget the temple has yet to be rebuilt. This fact alone puts a damper on their parade. Sounds like another case of a believer not understanding what's written in their special book. RE: A friend said peace in the middle east is soon and god will return?

I don't bother putting myself out to debunk anything.
It's not immoral to eat meat, abort a fetus or love someone of the same sex...I think that about covers it

Hi Master, welcome to AF.
Actually, Israel has 2 wars to go: Ezekiel 38 and Armageddon. Then real peace comes.
A war is going to end! (Gasps!) Impossible! Next thing you know, people will be predicting that it's going to rain in the not too distant future!

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House “Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom "If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched.....You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. There is a limit." - Pope Francis on freedom of speech
The world really did end around 1912 or so.
Everything since is an illusion from Satan. Kinda redundant to be predicting the world to end again. Tell your asshole friend that his fucking god wasn't here the first time.

What we need is a leader to emerge and solve all these problems. Maybe Obama? Him and Putin are doing so well.
Or perhaps Ronald Reagan. Didn't his name add up to 666? Ooooh, scary. |
