I took it to mean that rape culture doesn't exist because bad people do bad things and good people don't do bad things.

Also is she saying modern fems slut shame or they dont?

I think she is saying that modern feminists focus on slut shaming too much whilst completely ignoring the frankly terrible treatment of women in other countries. Its like if I called a woman a 'bitch' and they get really offended by it, but at that exact moment, a few thousand miles away, a woman is being whipped for being raped. Its like: get your priorities right.

I tend to distrust shrill people by instinct.

I got into a discussion with a lady named Sarah Braasch on an atheist blog, taking issue with her using the term "gender genocide" to describe sexism in America. I have the same sort of issue with the idea of "rape culture", insofar as it hyperbolizes an issue to the point of caricature, thus devaluing it of any usefulness. Too many feminists are too quick to excoriate those who don't agree 100% with them. Too many feminists don't want a dialogue; they want a harangue.

I disagree both of the extreme sides on the rape culture issue. Yes it's real, yes it's a problem, no it's not just women who are raped or men who rape. Statutory rape is over penalized. Rape victims are blamed far too often. Teaching people to protect themselves should never be considered slut shame, not that it will help in most rape cases but it will never hurt. The whole thing is a big mess. I find I tend to disagree with everyone on this issue. Lol

Yeah I dont think rape culture causes rapes, for the most part. I think its more of a problem with how society sees rape and weather people believe date rape is a thing or not and how victims are perceived

Well, rape is certainly a problem, but the issue I have with the idea of "rape culture" is that it ignores the many steps that have been taken over the last few decades which have done so much to undermine the old blame-the-victim mentality which, I think, gave rise to the idea of rape culture.

It's as if some folks, the extremists on the issue, want it to continue unabated so that they will have something they can rail against.

Sure but there's a difference between slut shaming and criticizing promiscuous behaviour on both sexes, some people fail to see the difference. I think it's immoral for someone to have sex with 20 people a week that doesn't mean I'm slut shaming anyone

You are correct. I said in a previous comment that it is not only women who are raped. Also, women rape more often than people think as well.

If you personally think it's immoral that is your prerogative.
If you try to make a person (regardless of their gender) feel guilty for their sexual behavior, then that is slut shaming.
