There are left- and right-chiral thalidomide molecules. IIRC, it's the left version that doesn't cause the birth defects, and a way was found to only generate them with the chemical process, which previously made both versions.

Homer’s epic is called The Iliad because ‘Ilion’ was another name for Troy. The -ad suffix means ‘story of’.
